My family and I had 9 hours free time in port of Kotor, so we decided to take a further look at Boka Bay. We arranged travel agency by recommendation of our friend who has already visited Montenegro. Driver Marco picked us up in the port, and took us first in beautiful Perast, from where we had a quick boat tour to two small island in the middle of the Bay. Next location was breath taking Porto Montenegro, the new built exclusive place in Tivat. After that we retourned and spend some time in Kotor Old town. That was the best time spent to see more of that amazing county.

If you want to escape from city noise and enjoy the pure nature, Durmitor National Park is definitely the best choice. Black Lake is the premium tourist attraction of the Durmitor area. It is the largest and the best known of 18 glacial lakes on the mountain. During the summer time the lake consists of two smaller lakes: Big Lake and Little Lake. The lake is easily accessible and it is a most popular for hiking and recreation. Djurdjevica Tara Bridge(172m), represent one of the most visited attraction in Montenegro. Near the bridge, there are many places to visit, but certainly for those who prefer a real adventure, we recommend rafting on Tara.

Lovcen is located in the south-west mountains of Crna Gora expanding as far as the coast of the Adriatic Sea. It was named a national park in 1952 consisting of two high points, Stirovnik (1.729m) and Jezerski point (1.657m), where Njegosev’s tomb is found. Lipa Cave is the first cave adventure in Montenegro offering a charming diversity of karstic features to provide the visitors with a unique experience of the underground world. The cave’s authenticity lies in its genuine wilderness that leaves a lasting impression and makes the visit a memorable adventure. Lipa Cave is one of the largest cave monuments in Montenegro. 7. Vrmac hiking tour

MiS Travel Agency

Vrmac – Starting just from the Tivat city, 10 minutes drive from the hotels, we reach authentic Montenegrin village, at 300 metres above sea level, overlooking the bay and the coast. As soon as we start and pass through the village, we take the ascent on the old caravan road, hidden in the shade, and learn how it was built during the Austro – Hungarian reign, and how it was used to connect system of forts, barracks, and trenches on the top of the Vrmac ridge. Ultimate price of this tour is terrific view from the top, on both sides of the Boka bay – towards the ancient city of Kotor, hidden in the beautiful fjord, and towards the Tivat Riviera and open Adriatic sea on the southern side. While descending, we are taking gravel road through the forest and shade, until we reach abandoned fortress and barracks on the other end of the ridge. This place is ideal pick up point and opportunity for the snack/ lunch at the end of this popular hiking trail.

8. Krstac to Kotor hiking tour

MiS Travel Agency

This is great historical/panoramic tour that will take us from the slopes of famous montenegrin serpentine road, down to the old city of Kotor. Instead of taking the rocky and overcrowded motorway, we are taking the famous Kotor ladder, old caravan road, which was made in the distant past to connect two sides – European city of Kotor and old, traditional Montenegro region. After many U turns and zig-zags, trail visits abandoned hamlet Spiljari, where you will have opportunity to taste domestic and homemade products. As we continue our walk downhill, path will take us through the hidden passage to enter Kotor from behind, leaving the ramparts and walls to guard our passage. Although this is descending track, this manmade monumental road is pretty flat, well-preserved and very easy to take. Apart from the fact that this track is Number 1 in Montenegro, in terms of scenic view and bird perspective on the most beautiful part of our country ! Absolute highlight !
