Beautiful park - facilities nice - good working order - must see when in the area - several stops for public beach access-also 2 large pavilion areas with covered picnic areas, showers/restrooms- the park is opposite the residential area of the island so is pretty private - lots of shells - birds.

Bob Sikes Cut

This channel, which separates St. George Island from Little St. George Island, is known for being a great spot to catch flounder.

When you are in the Plantation, Drive main road (Leisure Ln) to the end. There you will be stopped from entering by vehicle into gated community called Schooners Landing. However within 100’ outside this gate is a parking lot, with several benches, that enters onto a PUBLIC walking path to the “Bob Sikes Cut” & beach. Some say it’s a very long walk - come on, it’s 250-300 yards at most on a nice sandy trail. My opinion - the Cut is for viewing, watching fowl&fauna ... not fishing. The cut in rip-rapped w/massive boulders. If you want to fish the Cut, best by boat. Note: the Cut currents are indeed very dangerous, and the big boulders have both lots of sharp edges & often are VERY slippery. Been watching people try fishing the Cut for last 30-years & it’s is hilarious. You’d be better-off/quicker to just open your tackle-box, dump it into the Cut, & go celebrate w/adult beverages at Paddy’s Raw Bar & regale folks with some great fishing stories (all lies, but who knows/cares?). At least, you can catch fish in your mind, while warm/dry quaffing local oysters & ice-cold ones ... but, fishing the Cut by boat is a hoot.
