9 Budget-friendly Things to do in Lynchburg That You Shouldn't Miss

December 18, 2021 Joeann Galban

Lynchburg is a city in the south-central region of the U.S. state of Tennessee. It is governed by a consolidated city-county government unit whose boundaries coincide with those of Moore County. Lynchburg is best known as the location of Jack Daniel's, whose famous Tennessee whiskey is marketed worldwide as the product of a city with only one traffic light. Despite the operational distillery, which is a major tourist attraction, Lynchburg's home county of Moore is a dry county. The population was 6,362 at the 2010 census.

Cave Spring Hollow

Jack Daniel's distillery, established in 1866.

The distillery tour was a wonderful experience. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and engaging, and the cave was a welcome respite from the summer heat. Sitting on a rock at the mouth of that cave was just like sitting in air conditioning. We had such a good time, highly recommended. Ask your tour guide why the trees are black!

Old Jail Museum

Amazing piece of history. They ask for a $1 dollar donation to visit (please give more) but overall no cost. Very friendly staff and neat to see a jail from over a hundred years ago. Amazing piece of preserved history well worth the visit. Easy parking and walking distance from the Jack Daniel distillery. People would stay here for up to one year up to 6 people at a time and the sheriff lived on site.

Yes, you CAN come taste wines, buy wines and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere. (Wineries in TN are exempt from Dry County Laws) We feature traditional wines like Chardonnay to Cabernet and also Traditional Southern styled wines like Sweet Muscadine Wine. We are locally owned and operated by two families with a passion for great wines. We also have vineyards located in Lynchburg that currently produce Muscadines. Great place to visit and pay respect to a legend! The view is amazing. Lots of history in the cemetery. Well kept and very easy to find. Would have loved to walk around more but they were preparing for a funeral and out of respect for the family we didn’t stick around long.
