Holland's most modern city began as a fishing village in the 13th century. It was developing into an industrial and trading power when German bombers destroyed the city center and harbor in 1940. However, Rotterdam's unique architecture now brings many visitors to bike around this urbane, cosmopolitan city. Old Dutch-style houses can still be found in historic Delfshaven, from where the pilgrims set sail in 1620. Cultural offerings from summer's carnival to classical music give Amsterdam competition.

The collection is impressive, the location is very sweet and I'm suprised it doesn't get more attention. The staff was amazingly friendly and we had a very nice time! Amazing little spot in Rotterdam.

The art cube is a place where art and architecture come together. With the original living layout intact, this cube house forms the backdrop for the work of various artists. The art merges with the unimaginable forms of the interior and forms part of the house. The exhibited art is about Rotterdam or comes from Rotterdam artists. The unique combination of architecture, art and contemporary life forms a total experience of the city of Rotterdam, accessible to young and old.
Very nice, accessible activity during a sight seeing tour through Rotterdam. Amazing how they create such art in this space. Highly recommend it!

The Kunsthal Rotterdam is one of the leading cultural institutions in the Netherlands. With over twenty exhibitions a year, the Kunsthal offers a programme that is dynamic and always surprising. The Kunsthal is continuously transforming, and with its regularly changing exhibitions able to offer crossovers between various art disciplines. From modern masters and contemporary art to forgotten cultures, photography, fashion and design. The Kunsthal's exhibition programme gives it its national scope and international allure. In its iconic building designed by Rem Koolhaas, the Kunsthal stands for three core values: art, culture and society. The Kunsthal is not a museum, nor does it wish to be. Not having its own collection gives the Kunsthal absolute freedom, and making optimum use of that freedom is where its strength lies. With a small team, a wide range of exhibitions and activities are realised with a high turnover rate for a diverse audience. This is what makes the Kunsthal different from other institutions in the museum sector.
Excellent a wonderful exhibition to take the day over..and get inspired to follow the cutting edge of fashion and artistic development

An intimate art experience, some exquisite pieces beautifully curated. Captures a moment in art history that weaves in seamlessly with the significance of the surrounding museums, specifically the Sonneveld House and the Bauhaus collection at the Boijmans (only available until May 26, 2019). The Chabot sculptures and Kandinsky paintings were particular highlights.

Founded in 1990, Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art is a public institution in Rotterdam that presents a changing program of art commissions and exhibitions, educational initiatives and events. It also has a longstanding editorial program, which has included artist books, publications, exhibition readers and catalogs, as well as online publishing. Witte de With has served as a cultural platform for both emerging and established artists, curators, writers and art audiences alike, locally and internationally. Continually revisited is the question of how to define the role of art institutions in relation to artistic experimentation and cultural developments. Its program thus considers the places of contemporary art in the present, and the ways it has been experienced in the past. It also imagines the futures contemporary art may be shaped by—and those futures that art and culture in general could come to shape.
