Always a great stay

Stayed at the Broad Street Inn for the third time last week in the Carriage House and had yet another wonderful stay. Even with A LOT of construction going on around the Inn with PG&E laying new underground power lines, the Carriage House was quiet, cozy, and comfortable for my entire stay. Ron and Julie are always so kind and accommodating. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Nevada City. Thanks again for another great stay! See you when I'm back in town again.

A big thank you to Sarah! What a great property and a relaxing stay. My friend and I arrived without a reservation hoping there was a room available. Lucky us, there was. Sarah was at the front desk and was so nice and welcoming. She gave excellent suggestions for local hiking trails. The room was perfect with one queen bed and one twin in a cute alcove. The room also had some great touches including real coffee mugs, real creamer, and real glasses. Wish we had been able to stay more than one night. The grounds are also beautiful with a nice pond, picnic tables and bbqs. I can't wait to go back to Outside Inn.

I can’t speak to the accommodations as I paid for a reservation I couldn’t use, but I’m posting a review anyway in case others find it helpful. They have a 7-day cancellation policy and I was concerned that something like a COVID exposure would be an issue so called and was told that if something like that happened, they could offer a 3-month extension of the reservation. I explained that I live 800+ miles away (just south of the WA / Canadian border) and that it was unlikely that would work. He said to not worry, that we’d be able to figure something out and, based on this, I booked a reservation. The challenge ended up being not COVID but air quality - my friends and I are following COVID protocols so had planned on staying outdoors but the day before I was due to check-in, the air quality was ‘very unhealthy’ - 261. I called, explained we couldn’t reasonably be outside and asked how I might be able to adjust the reservation. I understand holding fast on no refunds (clearly stated in their policy) but the woman I spoke with said there was nothing she could do - until I mentioned what I’d been told before booking my reservation. She said she’d check with him and get back to me. When she called back, she said a 3-month extension was more than reasonable and that I should have known about the fires and air quality seven days before my check-in date. The fires have been unprecedented and air quality changes day-to-day; I’d delayed reaching out to them because I wanted the trip to work - I wanted to stay there - and their website showed multiple vacancies - my reservation didn’t cause them to lose any business. The reality is that even if they’d given me six months, I’m not sure I would have been able to use it but her lack of flexibility given the circumstances seems unreasonable and, unless there’s no other option, I will not be staying there in the future.

Beautiful campground, great facilities

I visited the campground with a large group of children and their parents, and we all had a wonderful time! We were able to use the amphitheater, learned some local history in the Chinese Cemetery, and played hard in the beautiful landscape in and around our camp spots. Hosts Erin and Dan were exceptionally helpful, resourceful, and kind-- we will definitely be back.

Felt like I was spending a night at an expensive Motel 6

Really old and not well maintained inn. Room was very small, paint peeling everywhere. Shower water pressure was non-existent. Rooms on both sides of us had TV going on well into the night and first thing in the morning. Suspicious people just outside our door (looked like a drug deal going down). Just a tiny window A/C unit that only cooled the room a little. Yes, the grounds may be nice, but the rooms aren't. I felt like I was spending a night at an expensive Motel 6. Spend a few more dollars and stay elsewhere!

So much better than chain hotels

I love this place. The lobby has real terracotta tile and smells like leather. Relaxed and real vibe but everything is nice. The desk clerk said well I think we have a lot of people so the internet may be slow, if you get on it, it is what it is. But it is plenty fast.
