Cozy lovely little spot!

Reviewed By kpzien

This place was perfect for our little getaway. Totally exceeded expectations. Cozy, super clean, check in was remote and seamless with clear instructions since we arrived after hours, walked into a room with the heater on after a chilly day (super thoughtful). Spotlessly clean, well stocked with amenities, I had a nice hot bath and climbed into the cozy bed with plenty of pillows. Cute little cabin courtyard set up, feels nostalgic, very green outside and close to town. Thank you so much for the lovely experience!

The Stavrand Russian River Valley

2020 brought unbelievable challenges to our entire world, though also some silver linings worth celebrating with gratitude. In March of 2020, Emily Glick, the now-General Manager of the Stavrand, oversaw the temporary closure of the 131-room Kimpton Buchanan Hotel she had helmed in San Francisco for over 6 years. The entire hospitality industry was upside down. At the same time, the pandemic brought an exciting new opportunity... Emily and her husband, Sam, enlisted friends and family to help acquire the (dormant) Applewood Inn and used the first half of 2021 to fully renovate the hotel. Today, Emily is thrilled to apply 15 years of industry experience (and a lot of heart) to introduce this special property as a luxury boutique hotel that sparkles in a new way, at a new level.

A Little Piece of Heaven

Reviewed By ldecook

I just got back from a solo overnight stay at the Stavrand and had to write this review immediately. From the moment I stepped out of my car, I knew I had arrived somewhere special. I had stayed at the property before it was bought and renovated by the new owners and they have literally made it a piece of heaven on earth. Everything was the style I like, sort of farmhouse Mediterranean. I stayed in one of the gorgeous Cazadero rooms with a cedar tub which was absolutely amazing. Every little detail is thought of from the amazingly plush robes to the most comfortable bed and pillows I have ever slept on. I felt like I was drifting off on a cloud. The aperitif hour was so much fun and I ended up chatting with other guests along with Emily, one of the owners, and GM who couldn't have been nicer. I am now the biggest fan of St. Germain and champagne. It was so lovely relaxing at the gorgeous pool with the forrest all around me. I went up the hill to a gorgeous lookout and just sat and watched the birds. The next morning I had one of the best breakfasts ever (the patatas and lavender bacon were phenomenal). I am already daydreaming about my next visit to this gorgeous property.

Highlands Resort

Welcoming guests since the 1930's, Highlands 'came out' as a gay resort in 1980 (we're 'straight-friendly'). Individual cabins retain a vintage look with chrome and formica tables, inlayed linoleum floors, charming gas fireplaces and private porches. Two blocks from town, the resort is on 3 acres of redwood groves and gardens. Relax at our pool! Our concierge assists with everything from restaurants and outdoor activities to wine tasting adventures.

Beautiful as ever.

I've stayed here many times over the last two decades. This was my first return post pandemic and under the new ownership. The property upgrades are excellent. The same warm hospitality and family feeling are still here. I'm so grateful for this redwoods retreat.

A gem in Russian River Valley!!

Reviewed By martingob

My wife and I had an overnight at Boon. My only complaint is that it was too short!! Can not wait to come back. The aesthetic and design are amazing, the staff is warm and welcoming, texting with the staff for any and all communication felt easy and friendly. It’s an incredible little spot in Russian River Valley and a :05 min. drive to Armstrong Woods. We dined at the sister restaurant BROT and had a wonderful meal with great service there as well. I am in the hospitality business and couldn’t recommend this place more.

Racist hotel

Reviewed By Marcus W

Please don’t book this hotel if you are BIPOC, and I was refused my accommodation for the first 45 min of checking in. I attempted multiple methods of communication between the agency myself, and the establishment and was told repeatedly that my credit card number could not look up the total. Lastly, I was asked to show multiple forms of ID. The only saving grace at this horrendous establishment was that my credit card number looked up at the tail end of the confrontation; however, the man at the front Dess still did not believe that I owned the card and asked me to reveal the whole credit card number. This hotel is an absolute disgrace.
