Das Museum erinnert an Niklaus von Flüe (1417 bis 1487), den Schweizer Landesheiligen Bruder Klaus. Er war Familienvater und Eremit, Bauer und Visionär, Politiker und Mystiker. Das früheste Zeugnis seiner Verehrung ist der Altarflügel von 1492 mit dem ältesten Bildnis. Er ist das Prunkstück der Ausstellung zu Leben, Wirken und Ausstrahlung von Bruder Klaus. Wechselnde Sonderausstellungen zu attraktiven Themen begeistern auswärtige und einheimische Besucher. Zeitgenössische Beiträge treten in den Dialog mit den historischen Räumen. For people not used driving in the alps, the road is scaringly narrow, but at the same time it is a beautiful drive through forest trees spending shade and along some meadows leading you to the interesting alp, while passing some impressive waterfalls. On weekends it is mandatory to only drive up during even hours (e.g. start the last 5km between 10-10:40 / 20 min. drive) and down in the uneven hours (e.g. 13-13:40). On weekdays you may have to back up sometimes to the next bypass, to pass with traffic coming the other way. The short hike we made along the Steimannli-trail was instructive and easy. We even found some chanterelle and a Neoboletus luridiformis (Flockenstieliger Hexenröhrling), these we shall have for dinner.
