We booked online for a reindeer safari with an individual guide. We paid no deposit but in full on collection from our hotel.
I am really glad we booked this way as it was much cheaper than what the tour operator were asking but best of all we got a really individual service. Our guides, Anna and Annte were really relaxed and friendly. They were Informative about the tour and area but also took us to a more rural experience than what else was on offer. Had we more time I definitely would have booked other tours with them. Questions were answered via email very quickly and I found the entire booking and collection process very efficient

Pyhatunturi

Pyhä is a true Lappish ski resort surrounded by the natural beauty of fell landscapes in the Pyhä-Luosto National Park. Here reindeers roam free and Northern lights dance in the sky. Already the ancient Lappish people recognized the beauty of Pyhä, and brought offerings to the gods on these impressive fells. Today well-maintained ski slopes, efficient ski lifts and great service guarantee fabulous skiing days at Pyhä. Ski area is totally renewed with a superfast 6 person chair lift, new Piste Palander (FIS) Slope and improved beginners’ area. Pyhä is easily reached from Rovaniemi. In just 90 minutes from the airport you are skiing surrounded by pure nature. At Pyhä the quietness and magnificent nature of the National Park are just at 300m from the accommodation.

Pyhä, short for Pyhätunturi (holy mountain or fell) is a fell in Finnish Lapland. Pyhä is nesting a modern ski resort with good selection of slopes ranging from family friendly to demanding and has plenty of opportunities for off-pist skiing as well. Pyhä is relatively quiet place compared to some other resorts, which is not a bad thing at all. Good bus connections from the airport.

Unique ice climbing experience they offered. They provided us including 8 and 7 year-old kids with good security gears and clear instructions. As other travelers wrote, just looking at the frozen waterfall was awesome! Their warm berry juice was also very felpful after/during the climbing under sub-zero temperature. Overall, they are very trustful and highly recommended. Additional information on web-booking would be even nicer.

Pyha-Luosto National Park

Reviewed By JariJK - Kouvola, Finland

This is "the must" sight for everyone visiting Lapland. You can't see this kind of scenery anywhere else in the world. I would give at least 7 stars to this attraction if I could.
The three main sights of Pyhä-Luosto National Park (Pyhä-Luoston kansallispuisto) are Isokuru Gorge (or ravine), Fell Noitatunturi (fell means a Lappish mountain) and Tunturiaapa Bogland (or swamp). They all are quite easily accessible from Fell Pyhä. Trails to these sights begin next to Ski-Inn Hotel Pyhätunturi, about one kilometer from the Pyhä-Luosto visitor center Naava.
If you have very limited time, visit at least Isokuru Gorge (ravine). It is easy to walk 1-2 kilometers along duckboards (also some steps) from the entry point of the national park (follow nature trail named Karhunjuomalammen reitti towards Pond Karhunjuomalampi). During this walk of 1-2 kilometers you will see the most amazing sights: Isokuru Gorge (the deepest ravine in Finland, about 220 meters), Pond Pyhänkasteenlampi (literally Holly Baptism Pond) and Pyhänkasteenputous Waterfall (literally Holly Baptism Waterfall). If you still have time, you can climb the steps to Pond Karhunjuomalampi. There you can turn back and walk the same route back to the starting point. If you follow the whole Karhunjuomalammen reitti circle trail, it is about 9 kilometers and takes about 3 hours.
A very good circle route for the beginners is Tunturiaavan luontopolku trail, even with jogging shoes if the weather isn't very rainy. It is about 5 kilometers and takes 2-3 hours. On this trail you see the wonderful Tunturiaapa Bogland (swamp) and many fells on the horizon.
Fell Noitatunturi is the highest point of Pyhä-Luosto National Park (540 meters). The view from the top of Fell Noitatunturi is amazing. However, Fell Noitatunturi is the hardest to access of these three main sights. The Noitatunturin valloitus trail is 13 kilometers and takes about 6 hours. The terrain is rough and there are lots of rocks on the route. Don't go away from the path because there may be dangerous slopes with rock slides elsewhere. Remember to take your own picnic lunch and drinking water with you. There aren't any cafeterias or other services on the route. But once you get on the top you will be happy. This is once in a lifetime experience!
There are also several other trails in Pyhä-Luosto National Park, e.g. from Luosto (Luoston Portti) to the top of the Fell Ukko-Luosto (514 meters high, route 4.0-6.5 kilometers). You can even hike from Pyhä to Luosto or vice versa. This trail is about 35 kilometers and takes 1-3 days.
There are some Wilderness huts, campfire places, water Springs and dry toilets on these trails (remember to take your own toilet papers with you). You may also set up your tent near these Wilderness huts (but not in other locations). Remember to take maps from Pyhä-Luosto visitor center Naava. In addition to this you can download a free mobile guide named MobiRanger.

As a city girl seeking for beautiful Lapland landscapes and silence, Lucky ranch was a paradise and Antti and Anu sweet angels !
This was my best trip ever ; the appartment is comfortable and fully furnished, well located (between two ski resorts and in the middle of beautiful landscapes), and you can enjoy may activities, ranging from horseback riding, snowshoes trip to the sauna or if you are brave enough a night inside the igloo!
But the owners are the real plus here : they make you feel welcomed from the first day and are always willing to help you discover authentic Lapland. Indeed, thank you so much for driving me everywhere Antti, especially to your friend's husky farm and for the amazing aurora trek ! And Anu is an excellent riding teacher, I strongly advise any guest to ask her for a riding lesson, my first riding in the snow was unforgetable !
To sum up, I had an incredible experience, don't hesitate to visit Lucky Ranch ! Big hugs to all the family, animals included! Can't wait to come back this winter for a new experience ;)

We booked a 2.5 hour snowmobile safari for €85 per person, based on two people sharing one snowmobile. The tour was very well organised and professional, our guide was very knowledgeable. The tour included a stop for a snack by a fire next to a frozen lake.
I would recommend this tour although I would say that it felt very short. If you can afford one of the longer options I would go for that. We felt the time went very quickly.

I took an 80min. lesson with a girl from the ski school (I think her name was Sanna).
I think within those 80mins. I attained a lot of great tips and skills for improving my skiing skills. Plus, if you go with the ski lesson, the ski pass and the equipment (both for 3 hours) will be together only 20 Euros instead of the normal price of 60 Euros, which is very reasonable!
Great deal, I would suggest everyone to try it out.
