Ong Lang Beach

After a long trek to Sao beach I was left disappointed about the Beaches in Phu Quoc. However after finding this gem that changed everything. It’s so peaceful, calm, clean and a nice little bar/ restaurant for some grub. If you’ve only got time for one beach, make sure it’s Ong Lang Beach.

We visited on Monday, the park itself was clean and fairly quiet. The animal enclosures were also clean and the animals looked healthy. We fed the lemurs, elephants and giraffes which was a good experience and only 30k VND a pot of food which was good value. It’s also cheap to eat in at the park.
Only given 3 stars as some of the enclosures appeared too small and nothing in the enclosures to stimulate the animals, we came across 4 lion cubs in a bare enclosure with nothing in it but each other just laying on concrete, and another lion cub on its own, 2 leopards in a small enclosure just pacing. The safari park where they drive you around was a lot bigger and more sufficient size for the animals.
When feeding the elephants we had 2 women next to us who were mucking around with the food, so much that in the end the elephant snatched the food, however the keeper came over shouting and waving his fist and the elephant backed up, when really they should have stopped the tourists mucking around with the food.
Took about 2-3 hours to do the park.
The free buses ran by the park to the park are overcrowded with the driver letting on as many people as possible appeared he realised he had too many passengers as he only asked certain people to see tickets and once we were closer he made people get off at a hotel to purchase tickets.

Goca is a unique experience in Phu Quoc. The bar / art gallery displays interesting art and sculptures which contribute to a really cool and inspiring space. The cocktails are delicious, unusual flavour combinations and so fresh - you can see the herbs which are used on the bar. The open plan / open roof design makes it a really special place to sip a cocktail and look at the stars.

We went to coconut prison on a tui trip. The guide was very informative when taking us round the prison. Very realistic models and you realise how cruel they were to their fellow countryman. A very meanless war as all wars are. Well worth the visit.

Being a guest at Vinpearl we were dropped off by the free shuttle at the back entrance, which is quite close to the Aquarium, where we visited first. However, because of the Chinese New Year Celebrations this venue was VERY crowded and extremely noisy, with lots of children shouting and running all over the place. However, the fish in here were well worth seeing (having been to the Aquarium in Aust) THIS was in fact better although on a lot smaller scale. There was a mermaid show, but this was so crowded and noisy, they done a quiz before the 15 min show but although they spoke in Vietnamese, it was very difficult to hear the person doing the quiz they provided little plastic stools, but played havoc with your back sitting there, as it was very hot in there as well as very crowded. Although, the show was too long , 5 mins would have sufficed.
From there, we walked round to see what other attractions were there, however, noticed on the plan they gave us at the entrance gate, there were some rides that were not in operation, one being the dolphin aquarium, very disappointing, as we could see this from our balcony.
We found the huge water park, which was very crowded. My husband and I were going to venture to the lazy river, but there were more people IN the lazy river than floating round it, not IMPRESSED.
We had a ride on the train, there again be AWARE of people shoving in, actually you have to shove as well otherwise you would never get on. This takes you round the park and you can hop off at one of the few stops.
My husband and I went on the bumper cars, that was great fun (we are in our 70's) but again had some youths that thought it was their right NOT TO QUEUE, but tried to push to the front, however, being of the older generation , we stopped them by putting our arms out. VERY RUDE.
There is a night water music Fountain show, but this does not start until 7 pm when its dark, however, didn't stop for this as it was hot and not enough their to keep you entertained all day.
My husband went on a couple of roller coasters, which they had closed one for a while
so had to wait for this to be re-opened, there again NOT GOOD.
The big wheel was good, no queues at all , in fact not a lot of people on it at all, but soooooooooo slow and got some lovely views at the top.
Pity they dont landscape the ground near the big wheel, it is a bit of an eyesore, so much they could do here.
Anyway, made out way back to get the shuttle back to the hotel. The person on the gate just rings and requests and they are soon there. Well you could walk this from the hotel, but why walk when you can hitch a ride especially as it was in the low 40 degrees.

Dinh Cau Rock (Cua Temple)

Reviewed By tokyotonton - Tokyo, Japan

I was a bit surprised by the size of it. It's smaller than I expected and can be checked out in about 15 minutes. It's a colorful Buddhist little temple, with a lighthouse. The premises are kept very clean and the views of the sea are beautiful. It was packed with tourists on a tour when we got there, so we did not get to enjoy the quietness of the place. I would love being there when the place would be deserted, to sit on a bench facing the sea and listen to the waves and breath in the salty air and just be with my thoughts. I see it as a great place to dial down ....if not for the throngs of people. The pier down at see level is a nice walk too. I would say not a must-see, but if you're in the area, a nice place to check out.
