Stefanos Crater The Volcano

Reviewed By Stephanie B - Milan, Italy

The walk down into the crater requires sensible shoes, but certainly not full on hiking boots. Once inside the crater you can walk up to the fenced off fumeroles, which are visibly venting gas (the fencing's to prevent you getting scalded). Some of the volcanic mud is giving off gas too. The landscape quite lunar and like nothing I've ever seen before. Well worth the trip from Kos.

Church Museum of Nisyros/Panagia Spiliani

Reviewed By Manuela L - Luxembourg City, Luxembourg

A must to visit the old village of Nissyros, the lovely white old houses, with a sleepy cat before the entrance, and if you wish to visit the church, with courage and make a litlle effort, you climb many steps, and on the hightest point the little church; view is amazing; when it is hot, not every body like to climb steps; A monk gives me a long dress, like an apron, to go inside; the church museum was very quit, and peace feeling;
absolute silence- - to meditation and thinking .

Nisyros Volcano

Everyday at 9:30am our boat the Agios Konstantinos leaves Kardamena Marina Kos for daily trips to Beautiful Nisyros Island. There are many things to do and see on the Island. Prices start from just €8 per Child under 16 to €16 per adult for a return ticket. The Boat departs from Nisyros Port at 15:30pm and arrives back at Kardamena 16:30pm.

Well worth a visit, but try to go outside the normal tourist hours (10.30am to 3pm). A reasonably easy walk down into the crater and the steam fissures are safely cordoned off without being remote. You can get very close and the small entrance fee is a bonus. Explore the surrounding hills and their little white washed villages, too.

This guyand his wife are very sincere people. They are always in good mood and smiling but their prices are higher than the other companies. (The others are quite sincere also)
Also this time he charged for 3 hours 30 euros for a Rio, said as the tank is full, we dont need to buy fuel, he will calculate over the km. We made less than 50 km and he asked 10 euros, saying that this car is big(not), fuel is 1.88 (Indeed 1.49)
Sorry Mike the reason I did not argue with you is not that I am fool.

Nisyros Volcanologic Museum

Reviewed By EJCBodrum - Bodrum Turkey

From the minute we entered the museum we were impressed. The man at the desk immediately offered the information that senior citizens received a discount on the €3 entrance fee. He also asked very politely that people leave their cameras with him as photography was not allowed.
The museum was well set set out with all information in English as well as Greek which is not always the case in Greece. The individual articles were clearly labelled but more importantly the overall time chart was clear and concise.
For people interested in pottery this museum is a must visit, also for those interested in more information about the volcanoes ditto.
On a mundane level the museum was spotlessly clean as were the toilets .
The brochures were also available in English.
