New Brighton is a borough in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, United States, located along the Beaver River 28 miles (45 km) northwest of Pittsburgh. There are deposits of coal and clay in the vicinity. In the past, New Brighton had industries in included pottery, bricks, sewer pipe, glass, flour, twine, lead kegs, refrigerators, bath tubs, wall paper, steel castings, nails, rivets, and wire. Located at Beaver County Airport, Chippewa, PA. 40 minutes west of downtown Pittsburgh. NO ADMISSION CHARGE!!! They only ask for donations to help support the aircraft restorations at the museum! There is a great museum display area full of historical artifacts - they even have a WWII Norden Bombsight on display. Guided tours, free of charge, are available most days. Available for tour inside the restoration hanger are a Spitfire, T-28, Fairchild, Funk, T-34, and a C-47 or C-123. Outside you will find an F-15, F-4, OV-1, L-21, and others! Wow.... for only the cost of a donation!!! Hard to complain about that....
There is also a nice restaurant at the airport terminal with reasonably priced food and a great view of the runway. We made a day of it.

The summer Caribbean Island is nice ambiance but the food and drinks are lacking. The drinks are watered down. The food is mediocre to bad. The fries are cold and greasy. It's too bad that they spend all that money to haul in sand and palm trees and skimp on the food. I suggest they quit watering the drinks and get a real chef who can produce good food.

It's okay- the candy is delicious BUT it is very expensive. The staff could be friendlier. I would recommend this to those not on a budget looking for good chocolate.

A little known treasure of art assembled by industrialist Edward Dempster Merrick in 1880 is found in the river town of New Brighton, PA. We spent a wonderful day looking at a surprisingly large assembly of oil paintings. Open to the public and with no admission charge, it is definitely worth a visit. It was suggested to check ahead since sometimes special events are held in the gallery. A quick google search will tell you if it is open. Consisting of three large galleries with each painting's name and artist listed by its respective painting. It turned out to be an art gem, found very close to our home in Pittsburgh.

While visiting western Pennsylvania, my husband researched interesting spots to visit, and he decided that the Beaver Area Heritage Museum would make a good destination for an outing on his birthday. Unfortunately, he had not paid attention to the opening hours (Saturdays and Sundays only), and we arrived after an hour's drive to find the museum closed. That was disappointing, but we decided to at least have a look at the grounds and the log house, and peek in through the front door windows. I was startled when someone came towards me on the inside when I was peeking in, but it was one of the museum's volunteers, and he let us in even though it was closed, as he was anyway there doing some work. Not only did he let us in, but he spent over an hour with us, showing us around, telling us stories about artifacts and people, teaching us about the history of the area, and then giving us a tour of the reconstructed log house as well! It was quite the birthday treat! (And the guide didn't even know it was my husband's birthday!)
This is a fairly small museum, but it holds a lot of items and information, and you can learn quite a lot about the area's history (mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries, but some older than that as well). It is a local history museum, and you can tell that a lot of enthusiasm and passion has gone into the making and maintenance of it. In fact, it received a “Best Local History Museum” Award from the American Association of State and Local History. The museum is housed in a former freight station, and on the grounds is also the reconstructed log house (which can even be rented for special events - how cool that would be!)
Well worth a visit for anyone with an interest in history! (Amazingly, it is even free of charge, but donations are welcome.)

This place is a hidden gem in Beaver Falls, Pa. A very short hike to get to the waterfall. You can walk behind the falls and swim on a warm day if you choose. Its a shame that people litter in such a beautiful place.

We saw the sign and turned back to stop at this park.
Parking was tight but go up the street and there is plenty of parking in the Methodist church parking lot. Many seniors were there to take photos. It's an attractive place in the fall. Steps going up, there is a trail. Not too difficulty. Dirt path. Not much water. Nice little walk. That's it.

Take your children, grandchildren, or just take yourself and discover your talents painting a picture, a figurine, a cookie jar or mug, ornament, etc., Most times you can just walk in and have your hour of fun. Everything is provided for you from the aprons, the paint, the brushes, an easel, and a pallet. They even fire your ceramic piece for you.
You might want to call ahead, just to make sure there are available tables.
The price is tight. For three paintings and a cookie jar, my cost was $63.00 for four kids. It’s a great place and in a beautiful town with other amenities.
