This red brick church dates from the mid 19th century. It dominates the town at its entrance from the Helsinki side.
Many of the artefacts in the church date from far earlier and the church that was burned down - and which this church replaced on the same site - reputedly had the first Finnish and Swedish bibles in everyday use.
On a leisurely trip along the south of Finland, the church is worth a look along with the rest of Loviisa.

Svartholm Fortress is sister fortress of Suomenlinna Fortress in Helsinki. It is located just outside of City of Loviisa on a small Svartholm island. It is served with a boat from Loviisa.
Fortress was destroyed by British Navy in 1850s and has repaired. There is small museum, which offers for free historical details about fortress and life on island during its existence.
It is perfect destination on a sunny day.

Nothing completely wrong with this place but they haven't utilize the full potential the great location by the sea offers. It was impossible to find good meal, bar food was easy - at a location like this it is just illogical. Mediocre service. A lot of improvement opportunities to make this a real attractions.

It is situated in the Finnish countryside, just outside Loviisa but still only a 1 hour drive away from Helsinki and Helsinki-Vantaa airport. The wellness events at Villa Mandala are tailored for stress-relief, relaxation, great yoga, culinary nutrition - clear minds and healthy bodies, with our trained professionals. Many of the events are in Finnish, but we do provide some English-speaking retreats for our international guests.

Villa Mandala is one of the best places I have stayed in Finland. Located about one hour drive from Helsinki, it's very convenient for visitors who would like to combine city life in Helsinki to some peaceful luxury in the country side.
The retreat center is exceptional. There is a forest and nature all around you, but I was so glad to notice that the amenities and the rooms had so high standards, like in a upscale hotel. In the evening, it was a pleasure to go to sauna and experience an absolute silence.
I have stayed in Villa Mandala several times and food has been extrordinary every time. They specialize in vegetarian and raw food and I was very amazed how good and filling raw food can be. Of course they will be considerate concerning any allergies or diets.
If you will ever have a chance to visit Urban Mandala, please do so. You will love the place and the wonderful owners, Mia and Mikko, who will take care of you like you were family.

Your basic castle ruin but we had a lovely picnic here, bet it's fab for the theater they hold here in summer! We did a walking loop from the central green to the fortress ruin, down past the marina to the beach and back through the forest on the ridge which was really beautiful and peaceful in the afternoon sun. At the southern end of the forest there is a spectacular 3-story lookout platform. Lovely views from there!

Небольшой, но интересный музей в Ловийсе. Находиться у пристани. Располагается в двухэтажном здании. В музее можно познакомится с историей мореплавания в городе. Входной билет всего 3 евро. В экспозиции много макетов кораблей. Рядом с музеем выставлен пароходик.

Yhden illan reissu Loviisassa vei lopulta yksille Club Alexiaan. Paikka on hiukan piilossa kellaritiloissa, ei siis näy kovin hyvin ulospäin. Alex Kunnari oli esiintymässä, joten paikalla oli kuulemma poikkeuksellisen paljon porukkaa. Tunnelma oli siksikin hyvä.
Paikka on jaetu kahteen osaan. Toisella puolella on enemmän istumapaikkoja ja toisella tanssi/discolattia. Juomat olivat keskihintaisia. Nachoja ja pieniä suolaisia oli myynnissä. Biljardipöytä omassa loossissaan.
Baareja ei ole montaa tarjolla Loviisan hiljaisessa yöelämässä. Club Alexia on ihan ok baari, muttei mitään erityistä. Arvosanaani saattoi nostaa tosiaan hyvä tunnelma. Paikka on kuitenkin kuulemma erittäin hiljainen, joten toisena iltana arvosanani olisi saattanut olla alempikin. Nyt Alexia jätti kuitenkin ihan kivan vaikutelman.
