August 4, 2021 Renato Branum

Leixlip (/ˈliːkslɪp/ or /ˈliːslɪp/; Irish: Léim an Bhradáin) is a town in north-east County Kildare, Ireland. Its location on the confluence of the River Liffey and the Rye Water has marked it as a frontier town historically: on the border between the ancient kingdoms of Leinster and Brega, as an outpost of The Pale, and today on Kildare's border with Dublin.

Rye River

Reviewed By GearoidOO - Athlone, Ireland

We found ourselves with time on our hands in Leixlip waiting to check in to the wonderful Becketts Hotel. To put in time we went for a walk along the Rye River, quite a spectacular developed walkway. When we got back to the village we popped in to the Court Yard Hotel for lunch. The lunch was a wee bit undistinguished (a vegetarian salad and a Caesar salad, both a bit unrefined) but the court yard setting was perfect and more than made up for the food. We found shelter from the blazing sun and good hospitality - they had Peroni beer on tap which was just what the doctor ordered. The girl who served us was very nice and very prfessional. By the time we had lunch we felt refreshed and ready to take on the world again. What a lovely village and the meeting of the Rivers Rye and Liffey is quite a magical spot.

Wonderful Barn

This is a lovely hidden spot, that is really interesting. It would be great if there was more information about the buildings. Such a shame the surrounding land has been sold for housing. It should have been left as parkland for people to enjoy.
