Kangar is the state capital of Perlis, Malaysia. It has a population of 48,898 and an area of 2,619.4 ha. It is located in the northernmost point of Peninsular Malaysia and is situated by the Perlis River. The centre of Kangar is Sena Province. The town is the smallest state capital in Malaysia and its inhabitants are mostly farmers and civil servants.

A beautiful mosque located at the seaside with many beautiful features and a tranquil garden. Open to visitors and robes available for visitors to wear to meet the dress code to visit the mosque. The first mosque that I know that provides free wi-fi and in a setting that invites you to relax in the garden.

This is one of the best, if not, the best, attraction in the small state of Perlis. Located on the road to Wang Kelian, you'll need your own transport to get here. There is ample parking just at the entrance to the cave. The RM1 fee per adult is so cheap! You enter the dark cave using a well-supported suspension bridge. It's not a very far walk and there aren't steps to climb, so it's suitable even for the elderly. It's best visited during the rainy season as the sound of the gushing waters down below adds to the charm. Once you reach the exit of the cave, you are in for a pleasant surprise. The exit opens out to the Secret Garden, a beautifully-landscape park cum picnic area.

Direction: Follow signs that says "Tasik Melati" via Jalan Santan. You would go past local neighbourhood before you see the entrance to the park. Best go with car or taxi.
Park: There are three lakes inside the park. There are carpark, food stalls, pavilions, Seating benches, lotus and tropical vegetation, Bridges (Chinese bridge & floating Bridges in the middle of the lake) & Playgrounds.
The lake park is surrounded by greens and lovely Mountains. You will feel very relaxed in this serene place.
Good place for family with children. Children will enjoy running around the park and Playgrounds facilities. Other family members would enjoy good walks surrounding the lakes.
There are some individuals who come to fish. There is a signboard that says how many fish that the municipal council had released into the pond.
Best to come early morning and late evening. I was there during afternoon, not a good idea as it is burning hot, and walk path is exposed to sun without much shades.
Suggested Improvement: There are some parts in the park which are submerged into water that need serious attention. The ponding spots have good shaded Seating benches, which are not accessible for visitors during hot days. I do hope the park management could look into it.

We arrived 1 hour before closing and managed to cover the 5 galleries within the time period. Also did a quick walkabout at the tomb stone. We did not walk at the recreational garden located at the back of the fort, although we discovered much much later it was worth a visit.
Each gallery had its own focus. While the area was small, I must say it was well presented. My husband and I were impressed with the effort made to enable visitors to learn more about Perlis and its history. We had recently visited Istana Lama Negara (Old National Palace) the week before and Muzium Kota Kayang left a greater impression compared to the Old Palace.
Worth a visit if you have the time. There's not much to do in Perlis anyway.
Things to know:
1. Entrance is free.
2. Shoes are to be removed before entering each gallery.
3. Air conditioning is turned off to save electricity (probably due to the low number of visitors). Stop by the office and request for a staff to turn on the air conditioning when you are there.
4. There's a nice recreation area behind the galleries.

This attraction point is renamed to Taman Bunga Kertas Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen. It's located behind Hotel Seri Malaysia, Kangar. Required certain level of fitness to hike up to the hill. It's expected less than 20 minutes to reach the top and another 15 minutes to go down. We can hiking up either from Gua Cenderawasih or behind Hotel Seri Malaysia. Second option is easier than the first

Direction: Just follow the sign that says "Taman Ular" (literally means Snake Park"). Best travel by car or charter a taxi to get you there.
Premise: Ample parking space is available for those who drive. The compound is huge, with spaces for parking, food stalls, indoor exhibition halls, auditorium, outdoor exhibits and snake Fountain. There is an area which is quartered off for renovation at the moment (Nov 2015). Hence the fees is reduced by half for those visitors going there from now on till the place is fully renovated.
Animals available: Snakes & reptiles, deers, ostriches, chickens, ducks, pigeons, tortoises, iguana, komodo dragon & rabbits (caged). Maybe many more in the future.
Good place to learn some basics about real snakes. And to bring children who love animals. It is sort of like a mini zoo than a snake farm.
Because it is renovating, I would suggest to go after it is fully renovated in a few months time to benefit from this trip to Taman Ular & Reptilia (as it is not very near town centre).

Ladang Nipah Kipli is situated in a Nipah farm suitable outing with family or friends.
It is educational as nipah is a very resourceful plant that grows in swampy areas.
What is unique about this place is that it sells food and drinks whilst relaxing in the farm.
Tables and Cabanas are place amongst the nipah plants for customers to enjoy their cooling "nira" nipah (extracted fresh on site), which is their speciality.
Photography enthusiasts will also find this place interesting to shoot.
Good time to go would be late afternoon - more cooling (closing time 7.00pm)
To find the place if you are traveling from Alor Setar to Kangar, look out for the Ladang Nipah Kipli sign board after the Kedah/Perlis border. Take a left to Kuala Sanglang and follow the signboards.
