Gatbawi

Reviewed By Joanne H - London, United Kingdom

Gatbawi is a good half-day excursion from Daegu but be prepared for some serious climbing! There's a map at the bottom but frankly it wasn't terribly helpful, I just followed other people. There are two ways up. The path initially heads up in one direction from the bus stop/car park. A short way up there's some stone steps off the right - take these if you want. Both the main path and the narrower path the steps lead to go past two temples before the path really diverges; one small temple and one much bigger one a little higher up.
The main route up to the Buddha statue is off to the left of this larger temple, and leads up a long flight of even stone stairs. Once you're on the stairs you can't get lost.
The other route is off to the right (climb up through the temple and there's a gate on the right-hand side). This is a little more of a hike with less well-defined steps and I think it's slightly longer, but the ultimate height gain is the same! There were a couple of forks towards the top, just stay left.
At the top there's an area for praying and a little shop selling trinkets and water, and a toilet. Various other paths lead off into the Mountains but I would recommend being properly equipped with food and water before trying those.
It was a cloudy, windy day when I did this and the views were hazy but I suspect on a clear day they'd be fantastic. There is a good sense of achievement at the top and it is a very spiritual place especially with everyone praying.

"Bahn Gok Ji" It's just a small artificial lake for agriculture. But it has great view in the early morning or sunset time. With old trees, narrow countryside walkways.
It has small parking lot along the road. Take some photos, walk around and enjoy the view. that's all. Nothing else you can do there.

We were actually looking for Bangokji when we came across this park/museum. The museum is free for Gyeongsan residents and only about ₩2,000 otherwise. We walked around the grounds and swung in the big swing. Everything is well maintained and looks new. We are definitely going back!

There was in the middle of the road to Gatbawi that was famous as hiking attraction in Korea. This temple distance from parking was about 15 munite walking uphill road, so I went up a little bit harder. If you go there for hiking, there was good point. But for visiting, there was a little harder. If go there easily, you can ride shuttle bus from parking to temple's entrace. This temple was beautiful in harmony of landscape. Good place..

지하철보단 버스로 접근하는게 더 좋다.
3츠에서 예매를 할 수 있고, 사람들이 생각보다 많이 몰리지 않아서
영화관 치고는 나름 조용한 편이다.
