If you are in the area don't miss this opportunity. The museum is well laid out with exhibits about the local area, indian relations and best if all Annie Oakley. We were there for over 2 hours. Ask them for directions to Annie's grave, which is nearby.

Went specifically for the annual sale, it was Saturday & it was packed. Everything KitchenAid makes was there & on sale, some things you never knew existed. The checkout lines was organized with people directing you where the line began, it did move faster than expected. It is sort of overwhelming for the first visit so we ended up going back in 2 more times to pick up what we missed the first time after thinking about Christmas presents & the savings. Already making plans for next year

So cool. This dude bought this mill right out from under King's Island nose. They were going to disassemble it and make a 'static' display down there. So full of rich history and they offer a guided tour and grinding demonstration. A really cool gift shop and very nice people. Great local history.

Da wife and I attended a We Banjo 3 concert on an early February evening. Greenville is *small*, with mostly old buildings. We drove down early to find the place. It was between old schools and a building with an old “fallout shelter” sign on it (when’s the last time you saw one of those?). The Hall does have a pretty impressive façade. Beautiful stone with three large stained glass windows. When we walked in for the show that night we were really impressed! Lots of gold leafing, white marble stairs, marble busts, art exhibition room. But the main thing is a small but beautifully designed and decorated Performance Theater. 600 seats (400 on the main floor, 200 in the balcony). The seats are comfortable but small. You’re going to be rubbing shoulders and not really stretching your legs (people were a lot smaller way back when this was built). Excellent acoustics!!!! No bar service.
Go! Enjoy! It’s actually worth the drive from Columbus (If you’re going to see a band like We Banjo 3’s caliber!).

Shawnee Prairie Preserve is Darke County Park’s largest park. There are currently about 2.25 miles of level trails that wind throughout the different ecosystems of the 118-acre park. Benches and observation towers at different points along the trails make visiting the park more enjoyable for visitors who wish to spend some time observing the plants and wildlife within the preserve. A boardwalk provides access to a portion of the trails. Park Hours: Trails are open dawn-dusk daily Nature Center is open Monday-Saturday 9a-5p
Shawnee Prairie is a hidden gem in the Greenville/Darke County area. It is located just outside the city limits. They have trails, bird watching, maple syrup tapping, and other activities thru-out the year. But the best time is in September during Shawnee Prairie Day weekend. They set up various locations such as sawmill, blacksmith shops, etc with period dress and many education programs. It is a great weekend for the entire family.

Eight of tried out this track based upon one within our groups recommendation. He had played here some 10-12 years previous and remembered the course fondly. He did expect the trees to be taller and fuller. He was not disappointed. For the end of August, this course was in prime late Spring / early summer condition. From tee to greens, everything was immaculate. Easy to see why this Course has been Voted #1 in Darke County and in the Dayton Area. I understand the course was opened in 1921. I loved the change in elevation of many holes - up and down. You will too enjoy several elevated tee shots down to a narrow fairway or to a couple Par 3's. The greens are medium to large in size and they putt great. Read the break and match your speed on greens that were a bit slick but fair. I prefer the faster greens. Course also has done well placing their bunkers. The great part is this course maintains their bunkers. A couple poor shots afforded me the opportunity to play from the sand - very nice lies with smooth sand from which to play. They also designed water features into a number of the holes, which add to the beauty as well as the challenge. These 18 holes are definitely worth playing - the fun quotient is high. Now that we have "found" this course, we will be back.

Consisting of 55 acres of maturing woodland and 15 acres of intermediate succession savannah, Eidson Woods offers an excellent range of habitats and species of interest. There are several tree species of significant age, including several American sycamores and white oaks. The forest floor is awash with native woodland wildflowers and woodland frogs can be heard in the spring. Summertime visitors will enjoy the cooling waters of Kraut Creek, a pristine tributary of state designated Scenic River, Greenville Creek. In the autumn, the preserve's beech, maple, oak and hickory trees will paint the sky with oranges, reds and yellows. Even in the dead of winter, hikers can stumble upon a fishing Great Blue Heron, foraging white-tailed deer and tracks of many others!
This preserve is almost all wooded with a perimeter trail that also passes some wetland areas. We walked clockwise (recommended) on level well-maintained trails. There is a somewhat elevated area that overlooks wetlands but there are no interpretative signs there. The west (north-south) trail parallels...MoreThank you for your review of Eidson Woods Preserve! We're glad you enjoyed your visit and hope to see you on the trails again soon!
