Scenic paved trail running from Cannon Falls to Red Wing, Minnesota, ideal for rollerblading, biking and hiking.
Hubby and I rode from the Cannon Falls Trail Head Downtown to Downtown Welch and back yesterday Oct 23. About 20 miles total. It was a pleasant easy ride eastward to Welch (downhill).
The trail was in good shape with minimal litter and few walnuts. We encountered a handful of fellow cyclists to and fro. Saw Bluebirds, and an Eagle. The views of the river and surrounding bluffs were great as most of the leaves were gone. We got off the trail for a short detour to downtown Welch where we had a beer at the Cannon River Inn. The lady bartender was sweet.
Our return trip to Cannon Falls wasn't as fun. Major Headwinds and it was chilly. Check the conditions before riding. It's a great trail!!!

A group of us - 3 couples, took two days to do the 2017 Great River Wine Tour which featured wines from cold weather grapes developed by the University of Minnesota and grown along the banks of the Mississippi in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
A great place to stop and enjoy their wines and food options. The Winery is in an old warehouse facility that has great ambience. Food and wine pairings were very good. A place I would return to.

This is a beautifully scenic course with lots of rolling hills. From the blue tees, it's 6355 and from the red tees, 4913. I played the women's tees and it was challenging and fun. The course was in excellent shape and beautifully maintained with the rough being thick and hard to get out of with the recent rain. I would suggest you take a cart and not walk the course. It was only $49.00 for two people with the cart! Outstanding! They have a nice clubhouse and offer a special

Stop by and visit the Cannon Falls Museum. Learn about the town's rich history. See historic photos. Read old newspapers and view our extensive collection of local antiques. It is a great place to bring children, track down family history or do primary research on historical topics. Stop by and visit us free of charge.
The museum is quite small.,but it's very well kept, the volunteers show great care and are very knowledgeable and helpful. The building is a very old fire station. The history of the early milling industry is very interesting and don't miss the upstairs period rooms.

The statue and memorial to Col. William Colvill, commander of the First Minnesota Regiment at the pivotal Civil War battle of Gettysburg, can be found 1 mile east of downtown Cannon Falls in the local cemetery. It marks his final resting place and commemorates the vital role that this Minnesota military outfit played in helping to save the battle and perhaps the war. Their men were called upon to stop a Confederate breach in the Union lines against a far superior force that could have won the day for the south, but in doing so they paid a terrible price. To this day, their unit is noted as having sustained one of the highest casualty rates of any US military group. For history buffs, it is well worth a visit.

This long, elevated 7,000-yarder is carved out of the valley's canyon walls.
Very enjoyable, scenic and not to mention, challenging golf course. Might be a little demanding for the beginner/high handicapper. Many good golf holes. A couple goofy ones on the back (mainly, the dogleg right, semi-circular par five). Very nice conditions- bent grass tees and greens. Lots of trees but for the most part, ample room for error off the tee. Go too far astray and you will pay the price, though.Walk the front and cart the back. You need to be in excellent shape to handle the hills on the back nine. Worth the easy drive from southern portions of Twin Cities.

A nice large park. Most of it is natural with forests, trees and grassy areas, but there are some manicured areas as well. It was clean and well maintained. and plenty of parking.
