The Kankakee River State Park is a great place to go hike, bike, walk, run, or just sit and enjoy. The river is beautiful, lots of variety of trees, deer, wild flowers...this is truly a gem in this county! Even in winter it is a great place for distance runners to get in some training. Looking for a place for an afternoon outing? This is it!

Exploration Station...a children's museum is a hands-on exploration and discovery museum for children and their families, teachers and other caregivers. At Exploration Station children can climb inside the tower of a castle, drive a fire truck, fly an airplane, shop in a grocery store, be a mechanic, dig for dinosaur bones, and much more! Children of all ages are welcome at the museum, however, the majority of the exhibits are designed for children between the ages of 2-8 years old. We have an enclosed sensory area for our little explorers as well! Children must be accompanied by an adult and adults must be accompanied by children when visiting the museum.
