For those who want an incredible experience, I super recommend visitation. The place has amazing views, especially if you are a photographer. You can gleam the sand dunes floating on the ground and feel the winds moving it. You can walk through the 'sand blankets' that's how we name the dunes here at Maranhão, a Brazilian state. And a literal translation to name the place. Blankets of Maranhão... LOL... So, enjoy it a lot!

I’m a nature lover and Brazil is just an amazing country. The Amazon, Bonito, the Pantanal, Fernando de Noronha and many, many other splendid places blessed with outstanding nature. The Lençois Maranhenses is one of the special spots. The crystal clear lagoons formed in the middle of the incredible white sand dunes are absolutely amazing and a must see! There are the famous lagoons, but all around there are smaller and beautiful crystal clear warm water paradises. To fully enjoy it you will need, at least, a full day, leaving early from the hotel. Our kids loved it!!

I rented two quadricycles, one for me and my youngest daughter and the other for my wife and eldest daughter. We had never ridden this type of vehicle and it was very easy to learn. We started the tour around 10:00 am with lots of Sunshine and returned around 6:30 p.m. at night. The walk is fantastic, we go through trails in the middle of the bush, until arriving in the dunes of the "Pequenos Lençóis", the look is beautiful, we pass through several pools that are formed between the dunes with rain water and we arrive at the beach of Caburé, where the river "Preguiça" meets the sea. We had lunch at the beach tent and returned to Barreirinhas along the same route. Sensory walk. We rent quadricycles from the tourism company that is in the Afonso station, was recommended as the one that makes the best maintenance of the vehicles.

The lighthouse has an amazing view - but the community nearby also has its attractions: my attention was drawn by the icecream shop and the bar near the river - which has different types of cachaças to sell.

I travelled a lot during my life, and the wonder and majesty that this place has brought me is something unparallel. Wonderful landscape, sand and water pools extending till the horizon. Amazing. Must must see.
