The Kitchen at The Store

What a great way to spend a Saturday evening! We learned not only the recipes, but also a lot of the chemical and nutritional information underlying them, all while casually enjoying a glass of wine and having someone else clean up the dishes. Pretty much the perfect meal! Chef Arianna is extremely fun and knowledgeable, and she does a great job of not only teaching and instructing, but also of entertaining and being a great host. Can't wait to come back and see you again!

Mad River Taste

The Mad River Taste Place is a learning center, tasting gallery, retail store and gathering place focused on local, artisan food and drink. Over 50 makers are represented with a wide selection of products that range from cultured butter, naturally leavened bread, handmade chocolates, an extensive and changing selection of Vermont cheeses, old-world style charcuterie, craft beer, hard cider, wine and distilled spirits. Many of these products are made within just a few miles of the Taste Place. Our cheesemonger and cicerone are on-hand to offer guided tastings of cheeses, beer, hard cider and distilled spirits. Learn about the producers and what makes their products superior. The difference will be obvious as soon as you taste it. After a hike or morning ski, stop in for a classic European ploughman’s lunch of cheese, charcuterie and bread. Keep the meal local with a pint of Tin Hat hard cider, Lawson’s Sip of Sunshine or a French Press pot of locally roasted Awake Coffee.

We stopped here out of curiosity and ended up having a fantastic experience! It is a small market with a huge selection of local goodies: syrup, spirits, jams, snacks, gifts. They also serve local cheese plates along with wine, beer and cider. The cheese was some of the best we ever had and at $12 was a steal! The oat cookie/crackers were also delicious! I would highly recommend stopping in for a bite!

Sugarbush Resort

Sugarbush Resort is located in the historic Mad River Valley of Vermont. With two mountains, sixteen lifts, one hundred and eleven trails, three terrain parks, and the 2,000-acre Slide Brook Basin, there is no question that Sugarbush is one of New England’s largest ski areas. Amenities include multiple base lodges, equipment rentals, ski/ride instruction, lodging, restaurants, and retail.

Sugarbush has a wide variety of terrain and really fun trails. There’s a reason so many locals come here! Whether you are on Sugarbush’s Lincoln Peak or Mount Ellen, you will find fun trails and there’s even a lift connecting the two which can make for a lot of ground to cover when you’re here! They also seem to get a ton of snow here, so the conditions are often excellent.

Mad River Glen

Popular Vermont ski area and New England's best ski buy.

This is the real thing! No corporate crap or pretense. This is a skiers only area frequented by purists. From the first arrival, to the unassuming parking lot, the modest lodge and the iconic ‘single chair’, this mountain is different from the pack. A refreshing change from the crush of bigger collective-owners and their need for more ticket sales, and thus more skiers. The terrain is not for beginners, and is more reminiscent of Rocky Mountain steeps and trees. A wonderful Mecca for every skier. Enjoy

A comfortable restaurant plus a movie theater and you can take food in to the movie with you! Friendly staff, arrive an hour before the movie to avoid the last minute rush. Hold seats in the movie theater esp. if u plan to eat there. There are about 6 seats with tables in front of them, otherwise grab a folding table.

I cant say enough about what a wonderful experience my husband and I had this morning. While the weather did not cooperate, the ride was still magnificent. These are truly wonderful animals cared for by a great team of people and the ride could not have been more enjoyable, rain and all. I only wish we had the opportunity for a longer ride. A don't miss stop on your travels through Vermont.

The Round Barn Farm

The Joslyn Round Barn was Built by Clem Joslyn in 1910. Clem eventually sold the farm to his cousin Ralph, who spelled his last name with an “i” (go figure!). It was used as a dairy barn from 1910 until 1969, when Marge Joslin said to Ralph, "either the cows go or I go." Marge (and Ralph) stayed until 1986 when Jack and Doreen Simko bought The Round Barn Farm in March of that year. They spent eighteen months restoring the farmhouse into a seven guestroom Vermont inn, then turned their attention to the Round Barn.
