Do you like rain? No, try an overcast day, or if you are fortunate, the sun will be filtered by humidity or as clear as any sky you have ever seen near the sea. The walk along the entire length of "la digue" combined with detours along the beach in the sand is splendid. Start in front of the entrance to the port with the village of Ciboure facing you and walk toward the small white chapel atop the hill in the opposite direction. On this side of the bay, climb the stairs and explore the hill. There is a blockhouse left from WW II. There are pancaked layers of rock and the sea crashing against it below. Climb the hill. See the view just behind the St. Michael chapel that spans a view of the entire bay from la Rhune mountain all the way to the Pyrenees in Spain that spill into the ocean. The personality of any weather is worth the hide and seek excursion with nature and her Atlantic Ocean gifts. Then treat yourself to a coffee or chocolate somewhere in the village!
