Wolf Paws Positive Awareness Wolfdog Sanctuary

What a blessing this was! The tour was very early in the AM, so we almost did not go, but so glad we did! ( we drove about 45 minutes to get there) Jennifer was so patient, and fully answered all of my 12 year old's questions. (he had tons of them as he is very knowledgeable regarding animals, she was surprised about the amount of knowledge he had regarding wolves) We did interact with the animals and were allowed to enter one area with the very tame wolf/dog hybrids. Our guide mentioned, this is the first time that ALL of the animals came out to see a visitor. We didn't miss a single one! I felt very drawn to Moonbeam, and my child loved Frost. We purchased a t-shirt and put money in the donation box since the tour was free, and we definitely wanted to help the center out with the expense for the care of these beautiful animals.

Douglas Lake

Reviewed By mommy2eli - Zephyrhills, United States

My brother, his wife, and my tween boy rented a pontoon boat and toured the lake. We did a little fishing with no luck. We rented from a place on Douglas lake that had only new pontoon boats, and we had the most relaxing time! It poured rain in the early AM, so we nearly did not go, but so glad we did. By they time we arrived later in the morning, the sun was shining and it turned out to be a beautiful day. We were SO glad we only rented the boat for 1/2 a day which was plenty of time, an entire day would have been too much for us. Be aware, there is NO place to dock and use a bathroom, not even the pontoon rental places. There are many "fingers" to this lake, so we explored most of them. Because of the early rain, we had a lot less traffic on the lake. Most of the boats did not arrive until the afternoon. The floating dock was not very fun to cross to get to the boat rental. If I were elderly, or very young, it may have proved to be difficult. Would highly recommend a portable stroller for young children. There are no hand rails, nothing, but a floating dock that is relatively narrow, and if it is windy at all that dock moves a LOT. difficult to keep your balance, unless you look ahead and not down. They should definitely consider putting in a dock with hand rails.

Douglas Dam

Reviewed By DNvisitors - Knoxville, United States

We come here to see the views of the Smokies without the bumper to bumper traffic of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. For someone just passing through the area on the interstate, and not staying overnight, or looking for a campsite next to a very pretty lake, this is a good day or overnight stop. The overlook displays several major Tennessee mountain tops of the Appalachians, including Mount LeConte and a telephoto zoom lens will be rewarded on clearer days! If visiting in the fall and winter months, be prepared to see the lake at a non-full pool level, as their priority is given to UT football traffic in the Knoxville area and keeping the Tennessee River and downstream lakes at higher levels. Another plus is they have VG picnic tables and a well maintained rest room at the overlook.

We stayed at the Resort . The front desk is also the place where you book your tour or boat. They were very efficient and friendly. They had a nice selection of fishing boats, Kyack and pontoons.

Lighthouse Pointe Marina

Pontoon and Ski boat rentals. Boat mooring and Storage. Fuel Dock

Reviewed By Jdisanto

We had an outstanding experience with Lighthouse Pointe Marina. When we reserved our boat for a specific day, Brad called us early that morning to warn us of inclement weather. He reminded us we could move our date to a better day if we liked. We did, and it turned out to be the best day on the lake. The pontoon boat was super clean and well-kept. Brad and Blue (from the Marina) were extremely hospitable. Definitely the best price for a pontoon rental on Douglas Lake; and even better, great customer service.
