Terrible

Reviewed By hannamjayne

The room was basic, the duvet cover was ripped, very tired definitely needs updating. The bathroom shoddy, sink cracked, shower was pathetic and tiny, grouting dirty. Breakfast poor. Stayed 2 nights, on 2nd night there was alot of shouting coming from across the hall from a woman, not sure if it was the lady running the hotel, but screaming obscene language down the phone at somebody, very disturbing and unpleasant. Will not be returning.

Best Western Sysonby Knoll Hotel

Set on the edge of the attractive market town of Melton Mowbray, famed for Pork Pies and Stilton Cheese, Sysonby Knoll occupies its own secluded grounds of 5 acres with river frontage. We are ideally located on a main route into Melton Mowbray - just 1 mile out of the town centre. This Edwardian country house has been owned and run by the same family since 1965 and carries the highest quality rating of any hotel in the town, with a relaxed, family run atmosphere. The downstairs area of the hotel has had a complete refurbishment in early 2013, to include the reception, bar, coffee lounge, meeting room and restaurant. All of our 30 bedrooms are comfortably appointed with all the facilities you would expect at three star level, and the more spacious superior and executive bedrooms offer an even higher level of comfort with larger televisions and higher quality furnishings. Most of the bedrooms overlook the quiet central courtyard area, while two of our four poster bedrooms both command fine views over the gardens and river, with cattle grazing beyond.

Mid week break

Reviewed By TRT16

First time stay at Sysonby Knoll for a 2 night mid week break. Very helpful and friendly welcome. Allocated a nicer room than expected when booked so we were pleased with this. Modern bathroom, great shower but the towels were in bad condition, housekeeping staff should check as one towel was badly stained and one had a massive hole!! Management and/or staff always available. Good breakfast, not too much selection but adequate. No tongs for the croissants so chose not eat as unsure whether they had been hand touched by other guests. Restaurant for Dinner convenient for 1st night stay. Overall a relaxing break.

Great location, friendly staff, good bar, but "tired bedrooms"

Reviewed By 320martinc

Overall, if you need to stay in the area, then this isn't a bad bet. it's well located, with parking to the rear, a nice outdoor seating area for drinks and food, and a well stocked bar (especially for the real ale lovers out there). The bedrooms are clean and tidy, but have some signs of wear. The breakfast wasnt the best either (quite greasy, and no-one else seemed to opt for breakfast there either which is a bit of a giveaway), but it wasnt terrible. so overall, i'd say this is a fair hotel to stay at, nothing amazing, but no horrible shocks!

My wife and I (and our little dog) stopped here for 3 nights over the 40's festival weekend in May. Alison couldn't have been more helpful and made our stay effortless. The premises are well looked after and we couldn't help but notice the trust she had in all her visitors. We came and went as we pleased and if we had any questions Alison was only too happy to help. The rooms had everything you needed and I was taken back by the vast assortment of teas which were available in the room. Alison's breakfasts were exceptional and consisted of cereals, juice, toast, tea or coffee and a delicious english breakfast to get us going for the day ahead. As an addition, Alison keeps a beautiful garden and several times times we saw her tending to it. All in all, I would definitely recommend Tresillian House.
