Disgusting HI Express
Reviewed By bogatoraustinI've been a loyal HI Express customer for several decades, both for business and for leisure. But this hotel was really a terrible experience. We'd been traveling for about 24 hours, flying back from Barcelona through Madrid to Miami, so we were really exhausted and made this reservation because we didn't think we'd be able to make it all the way home safely. Upon arriving at 10:30pm, the lobby was pretty dirty - definitely needed vacuuming. We got our room key and went to the room, which was worse - dirty floor, etc. Then we hear screaming, cursing, threats through the wall. Went to front desk to request room change. Was told that there are a bunch of adolescents in the room, the clerk seemed inconvenienced by my request but did make the change. Now in new room, just as dirty. Dirt smudges on bedspread, trash on floor, hair in shower, stains on bathroom walls. Would have left, but was exhausted, so we stayed. Next morning - no coffee in breakfast room, pancake machine broken, pieces of scrambled egg on counter, tables dirty. Decided against breakfast, went to desk to check out - no clerk. Waited five minutes and still nobody there, so we left without turning in the key. I would say that this is by far the worst HI Express I've ever seen and probably the dirtiest hotel I've stayed in, including some dumps while in college. I would recommend avoiding this location as it's a terrible representative of the HI Express brand.

ROACHES!!!
Reviewed By grandmalindacWw were booked for a 30 day stay in February of 2022. First 19 days were fine but on the evening of the 19th night, we saw a roach in the kitchen. By morning we had seen them in the bathroom and sitting area as well! Told the front desk and they had no response- didn’t offer us an exterminator or a room change. We asked to speak to the manager but were told that since it was a Saturday, a manager would not be available until Monday. Not choosing to live with the roaches, we decided to check right out and so we lost the last 10 days of our vacation!. We subsequently contacted corporate Marriott and it took 4 very lengthy phone calls with no follow-up by the company before we were finally able to get some recompense from the hotel - a measly one night refund ! Adding insult to injury, the hotel management totally lied to corporate, claiming that we were offered another room. Pet “accidents” on the carpets of the hallway were frequent and although addressed by the staff were a real turn-off as well. Trash cans at the breakfast areas often were left overflowing during busy breakfast times. Would never recommend this hotel due to the above!!

Poor Customer Service
Reviewed By Kenneth HWe stayed for two nights in this hotel. The room was fine as was the outdoor pool area which was a pleasure. However, the staff has a serious problem with customer service that was horrendous. I use a walker so most of the schlepping of our luggage, etc. falls on my wife. When she asked for a luggage cart, the two people sitting at the desk responded that they have three of them, but they can’t find them as they must be in customers’ rooms. My wife is a small woman who is 67 years old. She began to make six trips into the hotel as the two geniuses at the front desk just watched her bring in all of our stuff. They just sat there without budging to assist her. We were just furious at the lack of empathy and customer service. We did find a manager who heard the story and apologized profusely. He said we should call the manager of the front desk, Alex, and tell him what occurred. We called candy left a voicemail. He never returned our call! We happened to see him the next morning and when asked why he didn’t call us back, he just shrugged. When we told him what happened, he couldn’t have cared less. Now we know why the two staffers who just sat there were so poorly trained . Their direct supervisor was as clueless as them. The next morning, I found the general manager who was apologetic, but didn’t convince me that he would do anything. He at least could have credited a breakfast or two that we charged to the room or just something. A very poor showing for Courtyard management and staff.

Reviewed By TheatreKDThis place is a dump, filled with live in vagrants and addicts, drug dealers. With homeless people begging for money. Rooms have roaches and bugs, trash overflowing hallways. The smell is horrendous. Urine soaked mattresses. Rude staff. Believe the notice on the window. Mildew. Mold. Ceilings and floors in poor condition. Checked in and walked right back out. The city should condemn this place.

I was happy to spend more money just to get out of there! Most disgusting hotel room I have ever seen. It should be closed down by the Board of Health.

Reviewed By Jennifer4127There were quite a few problems with this hotel and a few good things. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable. The outdoor pool is nice, the water was warm and the lounge chairs were comfortable. That is were the good part ends. When we arrived in our room, we had a problem with the toilet not flushing correctly. The front desk sent someone up to fix it. He fixed it and then left a plunger in case it happened again, which it did several times. It seems like it would make more sense to fix the problem rather than leave a guest a plunger to use all week. There were reddish brown spots on the carpet in the room that appeared to be blood. The AC could not keep the room cool. The AC unit was also very loud. There were problems with the elevators the entire week. We were on the elevator one day, the doors closed and then it wouldn’t move. Throughout the week, there would be out of order signs on one or more of the elevators each day. We called it playing musical elevators. The ice machine on our floor had an out of order sign on it the whole week. The breakfast was one of the worst I have seen at a Hampton Inn. The link sausage tasted like dried cardboard and the other food was barely edible. Hilton brand hotels are our hotel of choice but this one definitely needs some work.
