Love coming here and this time we were very positively surprised that Anna Ruby Falls and the gift shop were open on New Years Day! Loved the hike and the falls were quite full with water and very impressive. The trails are well maintained, the gift shop well stocked and the Trail for the visually impaired is a great stroll along the river.

Clean course. Challenging yet fun. Have choice of 2 different 18 hole courses to choose from. Run by a local owner who was very friendly and did everything possible to make sure we were satisfied with this experience. We played miniature golf at another franchise owned golf course in Helen the previous night. The Bavarian Mountain Golf course was so much cleaner and better maintained than the franchise owned place. And it was cheaper than the franchise. Staff was more accommodating here also. We will definitely return to Bavarian Mountain Miniature Golf Course on our next visit there. One tip: Do take advantage of the free mosquito spray which is provided at the desk for you prior to playing golf. Mosquitos are abundant at both golf courses, but at least this one does provide free mosquito spray

Dukes Creek Falls Trail

Reviewed By Q8105RDdan - Panama City Beach, United States

My brother and I recently took a day trip and visited Dukes Creek Falls. Located just off Richard Russell scenic highway less than 6 miles north of Helen, Ga. the Dukes Creek Trail is a moderate 2 mile hike out and back through a beautiful, mountain stream-filled forest. The first segment of the trail is paved and accessible, and allows all hikers to catch a glimpse of the falls from the trail’s upper viewing deck. As you descend the trail is not paved but is well maintained. If you have mobility issues be aware that there are some stairsteps on this section of the trail. As you proceed the trail moves alongside a stream where you will pass several large, cascading waterfalls that provide multiple photo opportunities. When you reach the falls, there are several large wooden viewing platforms that offer stunning views of the dramatic, multi-tiered, 150-foot-tall drop of Dukes Creek Falls. The day we visited we saw lots of families with kids and dogs. Be aware the parking area is very small so get there early. There is a $4.00 per car charge for a day use pass.

Nora Mill Granary

Established in 1876, Nora Mill Granary is an operational gristmill sitting alongside the Chattahoochee River in the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains. At Nora Mill, we utilize the original 1,500 pound French Burr Stones to grind and produce all kind of corn and wheat based products such as grits, cornmeal, pancake & waffle mixes, flours, biscuit & bread mixes, pioneer's porridge, and the like. In addition, we have an old-fashioned country store & gift shop that we have named "Nora Mill Next Door." Our country store is stocked with thousands of new items and even has a large kitchen built just for cooking & serving samples of our mill & store products. You can purchase our products at our mill and/or on-line within our web site.

The Nora Mill Granary is a fully operational grist mill sitting alongside the Chattahoochee River in the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains. They stone grind corn and wheat based products for sale in their country store. There was surprisingly free access to all of the very rapidly rotating parts with a simple "don't touch" sign that apparently works to keep kids and adults alike away. Lots of cool stuff to look at (and buy) in the shop. Don’t forget to go out back and see the rest of the mill and the water that runs it.

I always stop at Wildewood when I am in Helen. They have an awesome selection of wind chimes which are displayed on a large open-air covered porch. They also have lots of other gift and clothing items. Because it is so big, this is a great store to just wander and browse through. It is located a block off the main road, across from the river, near the public restrooms and parking.

We found it! You can swim here under the new bridge if you bring your suits. I think the graffiti is wonderful! People sign their names and leave their mark in history. Look under the bridge at the big solid tree trunks that hold it up!
