This fish and meat market is located in the northeastern corner of the Forum. It is a huge courtyard with a very interesting facade. There are stubs of columns in the central open space, indicating a circular structure where the vendors cleaned and sold fish. Along the southern side, there were little shops, where meat was sold. In the northwestern corner of the courtyard, under a modern protective roof, we saw beautiful mosaics!

Though the church is beautiful and imposing, what I found most rewarding was visiting the tomb of Blessed Bartolo Longo which is in a chapel accessed through the side of the sanctuary.

This was a surprise stop by our tour director on the way to Pompeii. It was delightful to see how cameos are made. I would have never guessed. Beautiful hand crafted jewelry. Something for everyone.

JMJ Very interesting store and tour. Did you know that seashells are the source of most of their beautiful cameos! Learn how they are made and why some are different or which are more expensive. Corals in so many colors and many one of a kind gift items can be purchased. Be careful as you make your way through the many rooms of this quaint shop right near the Pompeii Ruins. You can cool off after touring the ruins and get some education at the same time.
