Such a nice stay at the Pousada as a group of 10 friends! The activities planned were really entertaining (guided walks, horse riding, piranha fishing, animals search...) and surprising! The team is welcoming and generous! We really enjoyed the surrounding nature, being closed to the animals of the farm, the meals and the accomodities (swimming pool, game room). I highly recommend this place! PS: taste the local Caipirinha they store!

Nature immersion

Reviewed By livespitz

The best thing about this camp ground: It's really in the middle of nature! In the morning you are woken up by birds, of which there are huge numbers and varieties, even parakeets, humming birds, toucans and araras visit or fly over regularly. You can swim in a little side stream of the river right next to the camp ground, or you walk a few minutes through dense forest with occasional monkeys to some even more idyllic spots along the main river. Swimming is easy from wooden decks including safety ropes, but if you fancy you can have fun jumping from a big tree hanging deep over the water. Apart from the river, the surrounding landscape is very variegated, which makes it attractive for plants, animals and nature lovers alike, especially birders. A short walk along the access road brings you from the humid forest at the river to dry hills and farming land, covered with a mixture of shrubs and pasture, excellent space for a large variety of birds. Toucans, araras and seriemas are easy to spot, but with a little attention there are large numbers of smaller birds to be discovered, some of them very colourful, like the Campo Flicker, a bright-yellow woodpecker, or the Red-crested Finch. When we were there in winter, the camp ground was very quiet, so animals wandered right throuh, mostly birds like the Red-legged Seriema, the monkeys and sometimes cows drinking from the river. The quiet winter season is certainly the best time to go there, not only for least disturbance to nature, but also because the facilities of the camp ground are rather basic. There are around 20 spots for tents and cars - unfortunately most of them slightly inclined - with a nice little cooking space with roof, water, electricity and barbecue space each. But there is only one warm shower for men and one for women (three more cold versions each), so I guess it can get a bit crowded. Some food and drinks seem to be sold in the high season, but nothing is available in winter, so you need to bring everything with you (except water for cooking, tap water looks very clean). You need your own car, because Bonito is 17km away, half of it on a dirt road. The road is mostly good, no problem for even the smallest car, and the advantage is that you have a fair chance to spot wildlife on the way, especially at night (we saw and anteater twice). The costs are rather high for the basic camp ground (40 Reais per person per night in July '17) - nothing is cheap in Bonito. But it's still one of the cheapest, it's clean, you can swim in the river for free, and if you like quiet nature experience, it's a wonderful place.

Espero voltar logo!
