Just to escape to the country is great but to advise the engineering of the 50s is awesome. You can hear the echos on the wall and admire the wildlifw.

Laratinga Wetlands

Lovely environment to exercise in. Nothing nicer than walking, or riding, along one of the many designated tracks, listening to the sounds of nature and checking out the variety of water birds close by. The bbq facilities and grassed area also make it a great spot for families to enjoy. The area is well maitained and dogs are also welcome. Get back to nature!

Cockatoo Lake Recreation Reserve

Enjoy the beautiful tranquil water front views on a daytrip or take advantage of the free camping and stay for a few nights. Favourite activities are yabbying, water skiing, walking and fishing. There are flat green areas to park the van or pitch a tent. This is a great spot if you prefer to be out of town. Cockatoo Lake is a short drive north of Naracoorte (30kms).

Patawalonga River

Reviewed By Pathfinder101 - Adelaide, Australia

"The Pat" is a scenic river at the back of Glenelg North that creates an internal harbour for our local boats as well as a stretch of water surrounded by grass and paths. The locals take advantage of either walking an extra block to walk along the beach or alternatively do a lap or two around "The Pat". "The Pat" has many grassed areas where you can sit and relax or for those more organised enjoy a picnic. "The Pat" essentially finishes at Tapleys Hill Road near the airport, and you are able to take advantage of the foot bridge across "The Pat" at this end for a unique experience. When the planes are using this end as the flight path for landing you can stand in the middle of the foot bridge and experience the planes flying directly over your head, wheels down ready for their landing. I reckon its the closest you can get to a full sized plane flying directly over you.
