Reviewed By Professional-PilgrimThere is nowhere else quite like this in American Samoa. As other reviewers have said, the location is dramatic, but it is quite isolated. We had the bungalow. I think that we were upgraded, perhaps because we paid for five nights, the last one of which was really just so that we could have a late evening departure for our red-eye flight to Honolulu. The nearest road is a half-mile hike away, past seemingly friendly dogs. The road in question is one that runs past the end of the airport runway. The nearest shops are another mile away. Pago Pago, with its post office and better restaurants is a good 30-minute drive to the east. We had thought that we would not need a car for the whole time we were staying at the hotel, but really one is absolutely indispensable. Luckily, the hotel was able to provide one for our complete stay, and we could drop the vehicle off at the airport, before our flight. The bungalow can apparently flood during a southerly storm, as it is located in the lowest spot of the resort. The room is about 25 square meters (5m x 5m), including a bathroom (with a bathtub) that measure about 3.75 square meters. The room has a comfortable, firm, king-size bed; 2 small night tables with lamps; a flat-screen TV on a table; a desk (145 cm x 68 cm) with a shallow drawer; one armless chair; a wardrobe; and a small refrigerator, microwave, kettle, and 2 cups, glasses, tumblers, and sets of cutlery. For luggage storage, there was only a small bench (70 cm x 30 cm), we had to put our suitcases open on the floor, hoping not to accommodate any insect hitch-hikers. Alas, a cockroach DID get into my suitcase, so I inadvertently transported one to Hawai'i. We were not given a key to the bungalow, but after asking for one, it was provided. Breakfast is decidedly continental, with nothing apart from toast, jam, and fruit. We met the owners briefly (the husband joked that he "was just the gardener"), and, to pay for our stay, I dealt with the redoubtable Madam on our last day. Before arrival, communication with the hotel was never speedy. I usually had to re-send my emails to obtain an answer. For security, I telephoned my credit card details to Jona, who took my reservation. In terms of staff, we mostly dealt with Marie, who was very friendly and helpful.

Reviewed By Angel FLe Falepule offers great rooms close to everything. I enjoyed the hospitality of the care taker that lives there. She is great and very helpful and friendly. I thought they went out of their way to make sure we had great breakfast and Dinner and let us use the kitchen for everything. We'll go back.

We have 3 different sized beach huts with great rates, with restrooms & showers. Plus we have internet. There are a lot of activities like swimming, BBQ, playing, surfing, hiking and much more in our area to other than "Rest & Relaxation." So come & join us!

Maliu-Mai is a hotel/beach resort that is situated next to the ocean with ocean view rooms. It's location is secluded and very peaceful, where the only the sound you hear are the ocean waves. A popular venue for parties and special occasions, and consists of a bar with DJ and live band music on Friday and Saturday nights. Maliu-Mai is only a 5 minutes drive from the main airport and from America Samoa's most popular shopping attractions such as McDonald's, Cost-U-Less, K.S Mart, and Laufou Shopping Center(just to name a few). It's service also include rental cars or a transport to and from the airport if requested. Internet services are available with both local communications distributors (Blue Sky & ASTCA), offering FREE Wifi. Its premissis is secure with gates at both entrances and exits, and a 24 hour security guard service.

Reviewed By 2LimaThis couple has been working real hard to turn this BnB place around and I would stay here again. You can't ask for a more beautiful place to sit and watch the sun set and listen to the crashing waves hit the rocks each day. I know I stayed in the old wing - but the new wing is fabulous and if you aren't 100% sure just swing by and ask for a tour.

Functional and Friendly
Reviewed By Brander SI stayed here for only one night, however I found this place to be friendly, clean and have everything that I needed. The tariff is reasonable and the outside areas are well kept, so relaxing in the garden with a decent cup of tea was a nice way to spend the evening. I would recommend this place to anyone who is likes to stay a little off the beaten track and enjoys meeting local people in an environment that is less sterile and polished than is sometimes found in the larger hotel chains.
