Hamer Hall, Melbourne, 100 St Kilda Rd, Southbank VIC 3004, Australia Hike & Seek

We embark on an easy to moderate 6.6km hike in the Eastern Sherbrooke Forest through towering Mountain Ash trees and wetland ferns. Keep your eyes open for lyrebirds, wombats, wallabies, and echidnas that call the forest home. Next, we head to the Californian Redwood forest and enjoy a short 1km stroll to marvel at these awe-inspiring giants; some trees stand up to 100m tall! This forest is one of the best-kept secrets of the Yarra Valley region. Next up, we pull into one of Yarra Valley’s favourite wineries, Innocent Bystander, for lunch. There's plenty of time for wine tasting too if you choose. After lunch, we skip over the road to visit craft beer brewery Matilda Bay, before jumping back in the van to visit the lads at Payten & Jones for more good wine and great tunes. We top the day off with a visit to Four Pillars, a small craft distillery (that's been named the world's leading gin producer two years in a row).

It's one thing to go to an amazing place of natural beauty and Wilson's Prom NP certainly packs a punch and ticks that box with great hiking trails, beautiful vistas, green valleys, sandy and secluded beaches, and lots of wildlife. But to go there with a tour that manages to squeeze all that in one day without making you feel exhausted so you can truly appreciate your visit takes a real expert 9adn that's where Hike and Seek tick all the boxes!). Special thanks to the tour guide Michael, who could answer any queries and engaged with all participants to make us feel part of the team. It is a long day (and more so for the tour guides) as the drive to Wilson's Prom is almost 3 hours each way from Melbourne so make sure you have a book with you (you will have your own light and air condition vent in the minibus!) or download earlier some good podcasts to watch (you will travel through places with no or poor internet access so be prepared).

3. Hiking Tour to Aqueduct and Warburton Valley Lookout

Warburton Motel, 4 Donna Buang Rd, Warburton VIC 3799, Australia Bike and Hike Warburton Adventures

You will be transported to the hike launch point (avoiding a grueling 800m uphill hike). Your self-guided hike will traverse the lesser known hero of Warburton Trails, “O’Shannassy Aqueduct Trail”. This amazing trail is cut into the mountain above Warburton. Whilst folks on the “rail trail” will be keeping an eye out for skinny lattes… you’ll be looking for wildlife in this protected natural wonderland. Hike through the towering forest abuzz with flora and fauna, great views and babbling water courses. Upon reaching the Dee Road Picnic Ground you can enjoy the stunning valley views and will be picked up there and driven the 7km back to Warburton Basecamp.

Inclusions: Private transportation, Map and Instructions, Return transportation from destination back to basecamp

Exclusions: BYO snacks and bottles water

4. Aqueduct and Rail Trail Self-Guided Bike Tour in Warburton

Warburton Motel, 4 Donna Buang Rd, Warburton VIC 3799, Australia Bike and Hike Warburton Adventures

Everybody rides the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail... and it is beautiful... BUT there is a hidden gem! The O’Shannassy Aqueduct trail. It is equally easy to ride but passes through stunning wilderness with very few people! It is carved into the side of the mountain so has stunning views at multiple locations. Don’t worry though, it’s a loop ride so you still get to ride the Rail Trail as well! Glorious!

Inclusions: Private transportation, Use of bicycle, Bike helmet, Bike lock, Tour map and instructions

Exclusions: BYO food and bottled water

5. Half-Day Biking Activity from Aqueduct to California Redwoods

Warburton Motel, 4 Donna Buang Rd, Warburton VIC 3799, Australia Bike and Hike Warburton Adventures

This amazing trail is cut into the mountain leading away from Warburton township. You will bike or hike 7km until you reach Cement Creek Rd. There are impressive walls of ferns on this section as well as the amazing flora and fauna that adorns the whole amazing trail. You will then travel 650m down Cement Creek Rd and within minutes you’ll reach the California Redwood Forest. There are 1476 Redwood Trees (to be precise) and the forest is enchanting, as is Cement Creek running behind it. The trees are planted in perfect symmetry making for a surreal experience and Instagram fodder. This adventure is hands-down better mid-week. On Weekends you’ll share the Redwood Forest with thousands of others… although you can look at them smugly knowing that you have been an intrepid adventurer to get there. Mid-week you can often be alone and therefore it’s completely worth taking days off from work.

Inclusions: Private transportation, Mountain Bike hire, Bike Helmet hire, Bike Lock hire, Map and Instructions

Exclusions: BYO food and water
