We went here to celebrate our wedding anniversary staying two nights. The accommodation is comfortable, well appointed and well maintained with subdued, gentle tones. The grounds are immaculate and tranquil. The food is delicious. We opted for a three course meal on the first night and the tasting menu (pre-booked before our arrival) and wine flight on the second. Both meals were expertly prepared and served and each wine in the wine flight complimented the food perfectly. For breakfast there is a good choice which is again well served. All the staff are friendly and helpful and attentive to guests' needs. We look forward to returning.

The Greenhead Hotel is the gateway to Northumberland’s National Park, only 3 miles to Hadrian’s Wall and not to mention a direct stop on the beautiful Pennine way. With the Northumbrian countryside just on our door step, the hotel offers a cosy drinking area with locally sourced ale, a chic restaurant serving homemade classic pub food with a modern twist and 7 newly refurbished ensuite guest bedrooms, providing the perfect base for your trip to Northumberland.
We stayed here for a night during our Hadrian's wall walk, the hotel is a short walk off the trail (10mins) but more than worth the extra walk. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The room was well equipped and spacious including tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was one the the best meals we had eaten in some time. The breakfast choice was good and the portions were large just what was required. Thanks to everyone there for a great stay.

Award-winning B&B, combining style and elegance with tradition, at the heart of Hadrian's Wall Trail, in a Victorian villa set in a peaceful hamlet outside Gilsland village. 5 bright, fresh bedrooms all with contemporary, compact bathrooms. Rooms differ in size and shape, though even the smaller has a 5' (queen) bed, others range from 6' (king) to 6'6" (super-king). Enjoy a glass of wine or a local ale in the garden with great views toward Hadrian's Wall or in the comfortable lounge in front of a log fire. Then enjoy an exquisite home-cooked dinner in our lovely dining room. Designed with walkers and cyclists in mind, we are less than 10 minutes walk from the Trail. We provide packed lunches, drying room, boot and cycle racks, overnight laundry - and everything else you might need on your walking or cycling holiday.
I arrived after a long walk from Brampton and found this facility to be perfect. The room was clean and I had a very restful sleep followed by a perfect breakfast. Denise suggested a lovely pub for my evening meal. The Brookside is located close to the Hadrian's Wall path. Thanks for the stay.

We are a small, friendly village pub serving fine food, real ales and offering comfortable and modern bed and breakfast accommodation. We are just 50m from the Hadrian's Wall National Trail in the village of Gilsland.
Good location if you are walking the Hadrians Wall Trail, as it’s literally less than 2 minutes walk off route. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were lovely. But the winner for me was the food provided in the bar/restaurant. Hands down the cheese soufflé was the most gorgeous thing ever! Fingers crossed they get their railway station, which will make this Inn a even more perfect location for guests.
