You ahve three perfect mine museums in Slovenia. Old one in Idrija, another with small railway in Črna and real coal mine in Velenje. Just in Velenje you have feeling of a miner, you can feel how earth is breathing and you have some fear. On the top you can visit original entrance hall and nice museum with a gallery. Guides know all about mine and history of mining.

I like the castle from the distance and t is worth to climb up or take a short drive. Castle is one of the best preserved in Slovenia. NIce to visit even f you dont enter- just for a great view! Among collesctions I oved the one dedicated to African art with houndrets of pieces...

Velenje Museum is located inside Velenje Castle. This is an interesting museum, as it is full of different Exhibitions. Things you will find in Velenje Museum:
- old looking shop and inn with everyday things from Yugoslavia
- bones of Mastodons (sibling of Mammut) which were discovered near Velenje
- historical exhibition about Šaleška Valley and Velenje
- Baroque Church Art
- Collection of art from Africa
- different art Exhibitions
I personally find this museum one of the best. It contains so many different collections, you will not get bored. The only downside is that all rooms of the museum are locked and you will need to be escorted to every room on your tour. This can be a bit challenging when larger groups come to the museum and sometimes you have to wait for some time to see the whole museum.

Kavčnikova domačija is an old farm with dimnica - it means smoke house. It is completely preserved with house, small garden, trees and each part of furnishing till the last pot and flower in the garden. Path to the house is interesting with description panels about the trees in Forests, flowers on meadows and animals in the forest. From upper side you have just 350 m to walk down to the house. From lower side you can approach near the house with your car. Road is very narrow. Ask for a guide in Museum Velenje.

The center is in Villa Bianca, near the roundabout in the southern part of Velenje. Location is not the best but they have enough place for visitors and Exhibitions, big souvenir shop (also some memorabilia from socialist time), lot of materials and kind and helpful young girl. Office is also the starting point of the path to the castle.

SUP and windsurf center located in avtokamp jezero Velenje 20m from the lake. perfect place to learn windsurf or enjoy long beautiful SUP 'walks'. rent: all kind stand up-paddle boards, windsurf school boards and sails... you can put your tent just beside our hangar and start to enjoy. open division 2 - D2 sailors welcome!

Velenje lake is quite big. Perhaps no so mauch attractive for swimming, but tere are lots of possibilities fr Water Sports. Zoo station is the place to go if you dont have your own equipment. We enjoyed sup-ing, even with our dog!
