Staying in Melbourne over a weekend I needed something to do on the Sunday, it was suggested the Yarra Valley.
Despite it being Father's Day in Oz, David accepted the challenge and in the end two Brits abroad (another hotel guest in the same position) set forth into the Yarra winelands
It was interesting to compare with the SA winelands that I visited month - certainly the grapes seemed less advanced
David suggested three wine farms, all different before going to lunch - the first Chandon, very swish, professional and corporate . Good wines, and whilst David is known at all these places it felt that we were a number on a conveyer belt.
Then on tiYering Farms, very different smaller production bespoke wines and cider. This was a wonderful experience the "Bar Tender" came to Oz 40 years ago and might just stay!
The to Yering Station another mass producer but with great wines- the restaurant looked stunning, but was fully booked when we had tried to book.
Lunch was at Rochford Wines estate in their,Isabella restaurant - busy and a limited. Menu because it was Father's Day. The food was very good. However the highlight was talking to one on the team about their wines, and how,far you can take pairing - cheese, old hat, chocolate new to,be tried at Warwick Estate in Stellenbosch and it is brilliant. He suggested ( and has done) both, but with music with top end sound systems, modern to classics - what a pity I could not be here for this!

Then leaving the drive back to the city to David, a great day, thank you to thenHyatt for suggesting it and David for delivering a very good experience

Nice wetlands walk just off eastlink. Features a great playground for the kiddies. The highlight is the wetlands walk that features 2 lakes that are home to varied and plentiful birdlife.
TIP: enter car park on Kriegal Way. Walk past toilets too get to the 2 lakes.

Rush HQ

Reviewed By Bluessonny - Melbourne, Australia

We planned a park get together for the kids & their friends for the holidays but when we saw the wet forecast decided to ring Rush HQ. Because we had 19 kids they did a great deal for us. We paid $12 per child including socks and received a bonus hour (got to stay for 3 hours total). Kids loved the climbing wall, many trampolines, foam pit, ropes course and much more. Staff who took my booking and served us when we got there were well organised, efficient & friendly. Only complaints were from us mums as the seating/table area is too loud & cannot cater for days like when we visited. We stood for an hour before we could get a seat. Cafe service a let down as well, again they couldn't cope with number taking 35 mins to receive hot food. Water taps need to be working as well as it was out of order for whole 3 hours we were there . We would have rated excellent had it not been for these things.

Stud Park Reserve

Fantastic playground at the back of stud park shopping centre. Next door too Rowville community centre. So much variety in a bush like setting. Only drawback is the amount of litter at the rundown footy oval next door. But your kids will spend hours here if you let them.
