Peach Springs serves as the administrative headquarters of the Hualapai (meaning People of the Tall Pine) people, and is located on the Hualapai Reservation.

My wife,our 17 year old son and 15 year old daughter rafted in early June. Perfect timing. Hot weather and cold water made a great combination. You will get wet - drenched if you don't wear water proof clothing. No one on our trip opted for the rain gear. Those who get chilled easily should wear at least an upper rain jacket - the water is cold at close to 50 degrees. You dry out - a bit - between rapids. There are a couple of stops. One for lunch and one to visit a very cool water fall - have a camera handy - in a dry bag. Lunch, snacks and drinks were provided. Scenery from the bottom of the canyon is spectacular. Probably not a good trip for the elderly, very young or those with mobility issues. It takes some strength to hang on when going through the rapids. We opted for the shorter trip and took the Helicopter option out of the canyon. I had heard the river past the Helicopter stop gets low and slow and turns into a boat ride -which is OK if that's what you want. By this point you are past all of the rapids and had plenty of great photo opportunities. I would suggest taking the copter ride out. Its only an 8 minute ride but very cool.

This was a terrific experience! We went the first week of August and everyone at home thought we were crazy - it was 114 F in the Canyon and the water temp was 44 F - the week before they had higher temperatures with a heat wave - but honestly, once you are on the adventure, it simply doesn't matter. Everything is very well run, and works beautifully. We left on time in a renovated school bus for a rocky ride to the bottom of the canyon with an entertaining driver. Once we arrived at the river, the rafts had been brought down on trailers and were being prepared. We were assigned a raft, and allowed to put things in a dry sack or a dry box, if we wanted. We didn't take anything, fearing the worst, and I so wish I had photos now! We purchased hats with brims and spf 50 sunscreen at the lodge and I am very, very glad we did. We both wore the lightest Patagonia shells, which did nothing to keep us dry from the deluge of freezing water, but did keep us from burning in the sun, and dried so quickly that we were never cold for long. Those who had nothing shivered a lot and burnt. We had 8 rafts on our day, with nine people on a raft with a guide, and every guide was amazing - kind, considerate, funny, informative - these are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. They each insured that every person on the trip had a good time. You get your life vest, you board, you take off, hit the first rapid - and it is very, very cold - and the exhilaration just doesn't end until the end of the day. The Grand Canyon is beyond what you expect and this trip is amazing. There are rest stops, there is the hike to the water fall, which is slippery for those not used to hiking, but just ask and the wonderful guides will help you, there's lunch on the beach, it is all amazing. No matter how many times you look at the videos of what you are about to do, doing it will take your breath away. Finally, we elected to helicopter out (weather permitted), although you can keep rafting further down. If you have never been on a helicopter ride do it! It is short, fast and straight up. You wait as helicopter after helicopter land and pick up four passengers and take off, each on a slightly different route. It is scary, but what a way to end the day!
The only problem we encountered was the bus back to the Hualapai Lodge. We were told several times in the helicopter terminal to wait in one area, which was the wrong area, and almost missed our bus!! The ride back can be very very cold (depending upon the driver's affection for air conditioning) so this is where you will wish you had a jacket or sweatshirt, which you can easily take and put in the dry bag.
This is a spectacular thing to do. We had riders from all over the world, and everyone agreed it is an amazing adventure.

We had a wonderful lunch in the grotto. Chris was our host and gave us a mini preview of the grotto. Burgers were delicious as was the grilled chicken sandwich. Fries and onion rings were equally good.
The 45 minute tour was so interesting and the guide was very knowledgeable. His name was mitchell.
This is a don’t miss adventure.

The tour of the caverns is interesting for both the structure and the mummification of animals that got lost in them. The tour has better lighting than may tourist caverns I have visited, thus permitting an excellent view of the walls and the survival food and water still stored there from the 1960s. For a real treat, you can spend the night at the “suite” or have dinner at the Grotto some 200 feet under ground.

you can visit such canyons for free in India and much more scenic. the only difference is India does not know how to market it's scenic beauty. in the USA, if any thing is scenic they put a scenic road charge for example, Big Sur. Sky walk is an experience to cherish but honestly, if you visit Ladakh in India . You would be much more satisfied.

We had perfect weather for this trip which I’d recommend as an alternative to the south rim especially if you are travelling from Las Vegas. The drive to the entry is long but has amazing Joshua Tree forests. You have to park up and take a shuttle to the three main locations two of which are viewing points. You can see the Colorado river clearly with ten miles to the furthest rim and 4000 feet straight down on the walkway giving you an idea of the scale
Be careful with sat navs if driving as they can take you on detours and to wrong location. I took the following coordinates whilst at Eagle point.
