Blue Moon Acres

My daughter was visiting from Florida and we made a trip to the HH area. The owner of Blue Moon provided an excellent experience. She was patient with another couple that decided to leave after we had gone through nearly 40 minutes of prep. We enjoyed helping with horses and the fact that they had personalities rather than being 'dead heads'. The owner clearly cares about the animals and their safety/health was the main priority. We would definitely book again.

The Spotted Horse Ranch

Took my family of 4, including 10 yr old and 8 yr old daughters. None of us had ever been riding before. Matt, our guide, did a great job of introducing the horses and keeping us comfortable the whole time. Our trek went up into the hills on the property. Such a unique way to experience the beauty of Hocking Hills. My youngest daughter's horse was Ginger and she immediately fell in love with horseback riding. As soon as we were in the car driving away, they were asking when we could come back again!

Tar Hollow State Park

Reviewed By KellyML1 - Hamilton, United States

We tent camped (Site 31) with 5 kids after finding all campsites near Hocking Hills to be booked. There is a small stream that ran around the site that kept our kids busy chasing frogs, salamanders, crawfish, and minnows. The park itself was well maintained-however the store, putt putt, and activities were closed due to COVID restrictions. There was not any cell service (Sprint) and we had a hard time even getting GPS service in some parts of the park. A paper map or written directions made a great back up. We stayed in Tar Hollow and drove to Rockhouse and Cantwell Cliffs in Hocking Hills for a day of exploring. The drive was quick and easy! The lake in the park was pretty with a swimming area however it was noted that algae levels were unsafe. (Others swam) Great place to take a canoe or kayak. The shower house was very clean and even has laundry facilities. The kids played basketball on the campground court. I would definately recommend this park and look forward to a return. I do suggest you be sure to bring everything you need-we did not find food/or stores nearby other than a pizza place about 15 mins away.
