Nice local park that has something for everyone. Excellent playground for kids and running and biking (both road and mountain bike) trails for all ages. Small lake that has several picnic areas along the shore. RV camping, and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has a Nature Center nearby that is also a great place for kids.

While inside the Nature Center, be sure to see the two movies that run back to back on the half hours! The multi media movies were informative, well produced and entertaining, and the auditorium was large and comfortable, but a bit cool and windy so put on your jacket and scarf! We loved the wonderful displays on all three floors of the Nature Center. I appreciated the helpful information sheets that identified the different critters that were in the cases, and was thrilled to see live alligators and snakes. The walk from the handicap parking area into the facility was a bit far, but there was a wheelchair available to borrow. Outside, you will find beautiful picnic areas, gardens, walkways and trails.

Many university campuses have at least one museum, and often they're not much to write home about (or on TripAdvisor about, for that matter.) For that reason, I didn't expect much from the Arkansas State Museum, but I have to admit, I was in for a rather pleasant surprise! The museum has a permanent natural history section (including a plaster cast of a mastodon skeleton found in the region), a section on the archaeology of Arkansas' pre-Columbian peoples, and a section devoted to the 19th and early 20th century history of Jonesboro and the surrounding area, as well as temporary exhibitions. For me, the clear highlight was the pre-Columbian peoples exhibit, which included an impressive selection of archaeological finds including ceramics, projectile points, fragments of woven baskets and rope, and other objects, and is thoughtfully presented with interpretations that take the oral histories of local Native American peoples into account. The exhibit of Jonesboro/Craighead County history was also a highlight.
In summary, if you're on the A-State campus and have an hour or two to spare, you would be wise to consider spending it in this admittedly small but very well curated museum. The pre-Columbian exhibit and the mastodon skeleton are worth it on their own, but the other exhibits are a nice complement to them, and help to flesh out the story of the natural and human history of eastern Arkansas and the Central Mississippi Valley. Oh, and admission is free, so there's really no reason not to give it a shot!

Division I football as part of the Sunbelt Conference. This stadium is home to the Arkansas State University Redwolves. The stadium is a family friendly environment. There is usually a variety of concessions from BBQ and Pizza to mini-donuts and sno-cones. Depending on the game, traffic and parking can be a little bit congested.

A stopover in Jonesboro, I wanted to visit "The Square" where most cities have their courthouse, & memorials. A local couple told of the County Building, with the Soldier Memorial. The WW I soldier statue, with its modern artistic silver prongs hovering over it, makes for a dramatic emphasis on the monument. We enjoyed strolling the area, with it's old public, church & business buildings.

Bradbury Art Museum features changing exhibitions of contemporary art in all media and programs that promote the understanding of art and its significance to society. BAM is admission free and open to the public.
