Cedar Hill Farm

Reviewed By amycf820 - Jackson, Mississippi

I've lived in Mississippi going on 10 years now and have never been up to Hernando.

I saw that Cedar Hill Farm has a pumpkin patch, corn maze, hay ride, and various other activities during the day during late September-October and I decided to take a visit, and I am so glad I did!!!

The farm itself is HUGE, with so much to see and do. There's a little country store where they sell their own jarred jellies, jams, salsas, tomato sauce, pickled vegetables of different kinds, syrups, etc. They also have cute little toys and trinkets for kids, and handmade candles and soaps!

Inside the country store is a snack bar that serves things like burgers, chicken tenders, nachos, hot dogs, etc. My family got the chicken tenders, cheeseburger, and nachos and all of them were really good! You sit in a small little country kitchen type area and enjoy your meal and watch TV.

There is also a part of the farm where you can feed the animals for $0.25 a cup. They had goats and their kids (so cute!!), chickens, roosters, miniature horses, sheep, cows, donkeys, mules, pigs, and bunnies! All of the animals were so beautiful and friendly, I could have honestly stayed over there the whole day and been satisfied. They also had a little black cat and a tabby cat running around the farm, both very sweet and outgoing cats that would roll over for a belly rub for anyone - even the kids!

When you take the hayride during the day, it takes you to a corn maze for you to walk through and then you can go down to the pumpkin patch and pick a pumpkin. However, if you aren't able to walk far, there is a huge selection of various gourds within the farm for you to choose from.

I didn't have any children with me, but there were so many activities for the kids to do, including a little zip line and riding the horses.

We also went to the haunted farm attraction later that night and had a blast. We did the "trail of terror" and it was pretty scary! I don't recommend you do that if you 1) don't have good night vision, 2) have weak ankles or trip easily (lots of stumps) or 3) can't run because it's very dark with lots of obstacles and we were chased twice by a guy with a chainsaw!

The haunted hayride was very fun too! The tractor takes you very far out on the farm and stops at probably 7-8 scary stops.

Overall, I absolutely loved this farm and would love to go back again sometime. My favorite part was by far the animals - they were so friendly and peaceful and the people working at Cedar Hill Farms were so nice and hospitable. We really enjoyed ourselves!!!

The Lewis Ranch

The Lewis Ranch is unlike any other rock ’n’ roll attraction. It’s an active residence where Jerry Lee Lewis still spends time with his family and friends. Jerry Lee has always seen The Lewis Ranch as his private escape, but now he’s decided to open to the doors to fans. We have created small, intimate tours that take you behind the scenes and into the heart of the Killer’s life—past and present. We offer 4 guided tours through the day at 10:00AM, 11:30AM, 1:30PM, and 3:00PM.

My family loves music history, especially Memphis music history. We have toured Graceland twice, and always dreamed of getting in Jerry Lee's gates! When we arrived, we were one of 5 cars scheduled for the tour. Staff greeted our family and led us to the front door. Pretty soon, Jerry's son Lee, JLL III, led us around his home. He told personal stories, explaining the origins of marks on the walls and doors, told about celebrity encounters in the home. He walked us to the killers closet and pulled out performance clothing and told the stories behind them. He allowed visitors to pick items for him to show off. We were treated like family! We can't wait to go back and meet with this wonderful family again!

This was our first time trying an escape room. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. The room was so much fun, but also very challenging. Very creative! We will definitely be back to try another room. I really recommend this activity for anyone looking for a unique adventure with their family and friends. We couldn't quit talking about it all the way home. :-)

I went here with my family and we all had a great time. It is out in the country, but just a couple miles from interstate 55. The setting is really pretty with rolling hills of blueberry bushes (trees) that gives the place the feel of a vineyard. The staff were super friendly and showed everyone how to pick the berries (and sample them along the way). It's a unique experience picking your own berries and they were as sweet as candy. They said the season is only about 6 weeks so you have to go there from mid-May to July-ish.

I don't know if it was whoever was operating the sound board and effects for the bands I went to see, or if I'm just turning into an old prude, but I feel like I missed out on a great show. The smoke effects made the bands impossible to see, and the music was SO loud, I could really make out the words or the melody. Everything else about the place was totally fine, but I was let down at the end of the night. Hopefully, that was not the norm.
