The Roxy Theatre

Reviewed By 133salliev - Mount Nathan, Australia

The Roxy Theatre restoration is a testament to the shire of Bingara's dedication and strength. $6 million bucks have been spent and boy does the old lady look grand. Take a tour of the theatre and have a peep through the museum. It is a great step back in time abs you'll be contributing to a town that needs the input.

Myall Creek Massacre Memorial Walk

Reviewed By JElliot32 - New South Wales, Australia

Myall Creek was the site of one of the worst massacres of Australian Aborigines by white colonists in the country's history. The massacre occurred in 1838 and some 28 unarmed indigenous Australians - women, children and elders - were slaughtered in a premeditated attack by a posse of some 11 stockman, led be a pastoralist. It took two trials to achieve some justice and seven of the posse were found guilty of murder and hanged. However, their leader escaped even going to trial. The story is presented very sparsely and poignantly at the memorial site, via a walk along the way of which different parts of the story of the fateful day are told. When we visited in June 2020 there was construction work taking place adjacent to the site that I presume may be a future interpretation centre.

Rocky Creek Glacial Area

Reviewed By 741lynm - Ipswich, Australia

Located on the Bingara-Inverell road, the formation is just a short drive off the highway. The track is a little rough, but should be OK for all but cars with low clearance. The spot has toilet facilities, but nothing else. The creek flows through jumble rocks and past a rocky hill. I think that watching the sunset here would be a sublime experience.

Great view, well worth the trip up the mountain, very steep. BBQ's there depending on fire restrictions on the day.

Wild Safaris has over 11 thousand acres of lush terrain in northern NSW, with thousands of game to hunt and 4×4 tracks connecting hunting grounds and walking tracks, Wild Safaris gives you the best hunting experience. This is the best Craft shop I have ever been to. Everything is hand crafted from booties, jewellery, leather and wood works and amazing art works. The quilts are quality to a T and the knitting and crochet amazing. Beautiful hand made goods make excellent gifts and keep this small, drought ravaged town alive. It is a must see destination. All profits go back into the town to help needy residents in the worst drought in many years. The volunteers are very knowledgable about what the town offers in attractions.
