Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou

Every North African town has a kasbah, a traditional administrative building made from mud and straw. This one, nestled against the High Atlas Mountains, is among the most impressive of its kind.

Reviewed By PaddyAdvice - Glasgow, United Kingdom

We were picked up (organised through our Riad in Marrakech) at 8am and drove 3/4 hours through the atlas Mountains and the desert to get here. The sights you'll see on the way are top drawer!
When you get there, you are allocated a guide and make your way over to the Kazbah. The way over includes navigating your way over a small river to which you walk over sand bags, not a problem for me and my wife but this was an issue with an elderly couple who were not able to cross. The kazbah has a lot of stairs to so be ready for a hike when you get there. Seeing this place and learning the history of it is deffo up there with one of the best sites iv been to. So glas we made this trip!
After, we were told we had to pay 25dhm each for the entry to the site, this was an issue for as i had no cash and d only bank card. I was told i would get an ATM in one of the hotels nearby but this wasn't the case, sorted in the end but best have some cash on you to save this confusion.
Next we were taken to a nearby restaurant, This is a place that ALL the tour groups go to so probably have an agreement/income from taking tourists there. This restarunt (l'oasis d'or) isnt the worst, but its definitely not the best either! Because everyone gos there from the tours, its packed so be prepared to wait a while for your order. The options are also limited due to the amount they need to cook. We were about £18 for 2 chicken tangines and 2x bottles of water. I think that if your going to pay this type of money which is slightly above average, you should be able to pick where you want to want rather than be herded in to a place thats average but have an agreemtn with the tour company.
Next we were taken to a a kazbah in Ouarzazate which was across from the musee du cinema.... Im not going to lie, This was a waste of 2 hours! There's a Kazbah here that has nothing in it except empty rooms! The museum we didn't bother with but we walked around the place which hasn't really got much to offer! I would recommend booking a tour that avoids going here as it a bit of a waste of time for us.
All in all, We enjoyed this trip, I would highly recommend visiting Ait Ben Haddou while visiting Morrocco.

Ounila Valley

Reviewed By Meyrick3B - Cape Town, South Africa

If you're wanting to find peace and quiet with zero distractions in a pretty harsh environment, then certainly visit but in truth the area has very little going for it. Rural countryside with resolute individuals admirably making do with very little is about all that's on offer. Why we did head up the P1506 from Ait Ben Haddou however was specifically to visit the Telouet Kasbah - and I'm glad we did (separate review)!

Centre Dar Equestre

At this highly professional equestrian centre you can ride well broken and carefully schooled Barb-Arab horses. Lessons are available from qualified instructors. Riding in the surrounding countryside which varies from lush valley to stony desert (hamada) is a unique experience.
The road that runs along the valley of the Ounila from Telouet to Ait ben Haddou, is considered one of the most beautiful drives in Morocco but nothing compares with the thrill of riding in this valley on exceptional horses and with experienced and competent horsemen. Longer desert rides are organized for small groups. All levels of riding are catered for. An experience not to be missed for horse lovers visiting Morocco.

I was very pleased to organise a trip from Ouarzazzate to the Sahara (beyond M'Hamid) and an overnight stay in desert tents. It was a very well organised excursion by Lahcen and 2 team members ( who joined us at M'Hamid) and at a very reasonable price

I traveled with Morocco Camel Trips in April and they were just amazing. We did not have to worry about planning anything as everything was well prepared by our lovely guides Hassan and Mbarek. In addition to the friendly, comfortable and carefree travel we had, it is also excellent value for money in my opinion. I would not be able to see as much as I did by myself on the same budget as the tour. I would definitely recommend for anybody interested in seeing Morocco.

We did the one hour guided Quad Tour with Rachid and it was a lot of fun! We rode through rivers, over hills and had an amazing view to Aït Ben Haddou and the old city. Besides that Rachid even offered to take a lot of photos and videos from us to remember this great adventure. We highly recommend this tour!
