We enjoyed this museum very much as it contained the entries in the Nature photographer of the year. These were amazing. It also contains a lot of the history of gold mining in the area. You are able to take a lift to a viewing platform, which looks across the Superpit and town. It also has a vault you can enter where millions of dollars worth of gold is housed. The original British Arms Hotel is also on site and has some rooms decked out in keeping with that era. An optional donation is requested

Hannans North Tourist Mine

No visit to Kalgoorlie is complete without a visit to Hannans North Tourist Mine, where you will experience a vibrant mix of gold rush history and modern day mining. In June 1893, three Irish prospectors, led by Paddy Hannan, found the richest goldfield in the history of Australia. Shortly after, D L Doolette was granted a lease at Hannans North, making this mine a connection to the earliest days of goldmining in Kalgoorlie. The original shaft was worked until 1991, when it became the tourist mine you see today. Besides the historic mine, visitors will see modern mining equipment, such as the giant Haulpak trucks. There's a BBQ area and a picnic spot. By the way, you can also join in a game of Two Up, the legendary game of the Kalgoorlie goldminers.

Karlkurla Bushland Park

Two couples visited the park together, all excited to see the goldfields flora and watching out for birds. I had been there before and described it as Kalgoorlie's King's Park. The others were very engaged and went again in the early morning. The look-out gives a different perspective and it was terrific to see Drones in action, capturing photos of the landscape. Don't forget your hat, water bottle and sunscreen (even in winter).

I did the 2.5 tour with Goldrush Tours. Booking was easy with great communication. The tour itself was very interesting and informative - it's a great insight into the operations of an open cut mine up close.
