Oaks Museum House

We invite you to visit The Oaks for a tour! Whether you're stopping to stretch your legs in the gardens or touring the house, we think you will enjoy stepping back in time at The Oaks House Museum. To schedule a tour on a day we're not open, please contact us at the email or phone number in our listing. About us: The Oaks (Boyd House) was built circa 1853 and is one of few extant structures in Mississippi's capital city that survived the ravages of the Civil War. An urban farmstead, it was the home of early Jackson mayor, James H. Boyd, his wife Eliza, and their six children and numerous grandchildren. The house, with original and period furnishings, and its Victorian gardens transport the visitor to 19th-century life in Jackson. The Oaks is owned by The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Mississippi and is administered by The Oaks House Museum Corporation.

LeFleur's Bluff State Park

Reviewed By BeckiS_12 - Arlington, United States

Staff is very friendly and responsive. All water sites are nice and you can reserve by site online. Water and electric only. Dump station near entrance. Grill and picnic table. No fire ring but apparently ground fires are allowed. Gravel and paved sites. Nice and peaceful. Quite a few long timers but plenty of space between sites. All sites seemed big enough to accommodate all size rigs. Some motor coaches, 5th wheels and also tents. Secure gate requiring access code. Convenient to the highway. Would stay again and remember to bring bait.

The Jackson Zoo

Temporarily Closed

Reviewed By SplashMLS - Aledo, United States

During COVID times, this zoo is only open on the weekends. It’s a low key zoo that’s relatively small with some pretty neat animals, such as a Sumatran tiger, playful cougars and Pygmy hippos. As always, zoo’s depend on customers attendance to feed and take care of their animals. So why not learn something new, get some exercise and support a local zoo?
