Lighthouse Gallery

Lighthouse Gallery is a unique exhibition space located in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia. It showcases original artworks by internationally recognised realism artist Nicola McLeay. It has a focus on sharing with the public one-off pieces that are for sale of the region and wider parts of Australia and New Zealand. Attractive leasing options and personalised commissions are available in a range of sizes, media and mediums. Visitors are welcome to linger and absorb the beauty of Nicola McLeay’s fine art while watching a digital display of the artists process via time-lapse. The works on show change frequently as new pieces are completed, fresh off the easel. Visiting the gallery can easily be arranged by appointment or when it is open for public viewing. Lighthouse Gallery is situated at Lighthouse Beach, one kilometre south of the Tacking Point Surf Club opposite the famous Camel Safari, along one of Australia's most majestic coastlines.

Port Macquarie Museum

We are spending our summer holiday in Port Macquarie and decided due to the rain to spend the morning learning about the heritage of the local area. Such thought has been put into what is on display and it flowed so well. My son also got involved with the "eye spy" game which were spread out throughout. We loved that there were draws and cupboards that could be opened which also kept him intrigued and involved. We also noticed that kind families have donated items so that we can learn about our the past. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would recommend that families visit this lovely museum. An inexpensive outing for families.

Roto House

A great setting and a beautifully restored house. Ideal location for a family visit and perhaps a picnic in the grounds. You could easily spend half a day here as the koala hospital is right next door. We loved both venues.

Mid North Coast Maritime Museum

This museum should be on everyone's itinerary when they visit Port Macquarie. It tells the story of Port that has been so influenced by the bar across the Hastings River. The many stories are well documented and illustrated in two cottages that were themselves part of that history.

We took 3 under 10 children. It was a beautiful clear night. We had an excellent view of a 5 day old moon- craters clearly visible. We also saw Jupiter and its 4 moons and Saturn and its rings! It was amazing. A volunteer talked to us about the constellations and pointed them out with his super bright laser. Then an interesting and informative talk about the planets. He allowed questions and had a wonderful manner with kids and adults. Can’t believe we haven’t been before! We all got up hold a heavy iron and nickel meteorite. A great experience that has the kids thinking and Enquiries about space!

There are many paintings for sale - all by local artists and some of them are just terrific. I would recommend this as a place to visit if you're looking to buy some inexpensive but quality artwork for your home. Not all of it is framed either so some is light-weight and easy to hang on a rented property wall where you can't put a nail in the wall
