It has been almost two months since I started online Hindi lessons with Raju. I am very happy with the educational method used by Raju for learning! The courses are not only spent in joy, good humor but above all seriousness and rigor. It is always with joy that I continue my practice of the Indian language with Raju over the online courses. When the borders are open again, I will be happy to continue the face-to-face lessons to improve my level. I spent seven days in Varanasi and contacted Binit a few weeks before my arrival. He also arranged a great place for me to stay, in walking distance from his school and Assi Ghat. All very casual and well organized, which supported my learning environment. My goal was to learn as much Hindi as possible in that one week, starting from zero. Binit and his wife Sushma were very accommodating to my wishes, and I had 2 classes in the morning and 2 classes in the afternoon nearly every day, even on weekends, with enough time for “homework” which they also assigned. She ended up focusing more on language, whereas he focused more on Devanagari and grammar, where I was happy to follow his strict lead in order to avoid wasting time on the very basics. They have different characters/teaching methods, and the mix worked out well for me. I got what I expected and then some more, since they would also give me insights to “Life in India” whenever I had questions. I find the rate of 500 INR per private lesson (50 mins) very fair, especially compared to prices in Europe or North America. The location of the school room is very convenient, close to several good restaurants and Assi Ghat. I wish them both and their school well for the future, and should my path lead me back to Varanasi I’ll make sure to sign up for more classes with them again.

The Varanasi Music Center offers high quality music classes in Dharmsala and Varanasi and intensive courses for beginners through advanced students. We teach Indian classical singing, tabla, flute and sitar. The centre is run by Rohit and Anita Mishra and together they have over 20 years teaching experience. From October till March our music school is located in Varanasi. Music classes, intesive study and yoga and music retreats are located in Dharamshala for April to September. A very professional music school,running by talented, pleasant and warm people. The best place to get professional on singing or playing on tabla and sitar, and most important- to connect yourself. Very recommended!!
