Nestled into a hidden ridge in the shadow of the sacred Nanda Devi Range, The Kumaon offers a private mountain retreat situated in the heart of nature. The Kumaon is located in Kasar Devi, a ridge above the historical city of Almora, which has attracted artists, pilgrims, scholars and seekers for centuries — Swami Vivekananda, DH Lawrence, Timothy Leary and Bob Dylan, to name but a few. The Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is a short 15 minute drive from the property. Jageshwar, an ancient and revered temple complex dedicated to Lord Shiva, is an hour's drive away. The Katarmal Surya Mandir, one of only three extant temples dedicated to the Sun, is located 30 mins away by car. Guests can walk through hamlets practising traditional agriculture; descend through forests of Oak, Cedar and Rhododendron to these ancient stone temples, or simply relax in the mountain sunshine and clean air, surrounded by birdsong and the fragrant smell of pine.

The room is well furnished. With beautiful views from the balcony of the snowy mountains in the morning and soothing sunset in the evening. A place for regenerate the energy, piece and far away form city life for few days It would definitely be a great place for piece and mediation and yoga and trekking.You can also go on foot to Kasardevi temple which is 1km far from the stay.Swami Vivekananda ji

Reviewed By NupurDwivediThere are 3 high altitude resorts within Binsar: Nine furlong, Mary Budden and Tree of Life, the 3rd was available and also most price effective. Gorgeous British bungalow with stunning views of Binsar forest. Lovely sunsets and sunrises to be caught. Staff was great and food was tasty. Seeing that it is located within Binsar forest they have managed to make stay comfortable. Only area of improvement would be room cleanliness. Linen seemed a little dated and could be changed.

Simba cafe & lodge is a quiet property overlooking the valley below and located amongst thick the oak and rhodedendron forest of binsar wildlife sanctuary. A quiet getaway it provides you with a calmness that one is not able to experience in the cities .It has a small cafe that is filled with books and board games that can fill your void when you waiting for the food.

Reviewed By PuneetGupta73We stumbled upon this lovely place on our way to Binsar sanctuary. We stopped for a coffee and ended up spending full 5 hours there. There is a stunning meadow opposite this cafe and there is an ancient temple too. The ambience of cafe, furniture and the food quality was excellent. The sunset is awesome.
