Carnegie Public Library

I love this library because it reminds me of the Carnegie Library in Gloversville, New York where I grew up. There is reading room with books with western and New Mexico themes. This is a very special place. If I go to Las Vegas, it is usually on weekends. So, I wish they would expand their weekend hours.

The plaza itself is lovely and shaded - great place to relax and look at the historic buildings which surround the plaza. The plaza is surrounded by shops, restaurants, and art galleries. There is one quilting store and a couple of nice antique stores.

Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge

Reviewed By 914jeane

We've been to Wildlife Refuge before but on this trip the Ranger at the visitor center told us of the Galinas Nature Trail. It's just a short drive within the park and is an approximately 2 mile trail that is spectacular! Many thanks to Ranger Anna for the suggestion of the hike. It's so cool. You start out in the grasslands, pass some ranching ruins/structure, come upon a little canyon - so beautiful! The hike then takes you down and across the canyon and loops back to the grasslands back to your car. The trail is a little steep in some areas, but so worth the trip!
