October 2, 2021 Phylicia Berquist

Where better to go for a romantic vacation than to the great testament of love, the Taj Mahal? Built by the grieving Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his late wife Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj Mahal’s unrivaled beauty explains why it’s regarded as one of the eight wonders of the world. A visit to India wouldn’t be complete without it. Other must-experience destinations in Agra are two other UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the sandstone Red Fort and Fatehpur Sikri.

Yogesh and Shakeel did a wonderful job organising this tour for me. Don't be fooled by the title, there is a lot more to this tour than just the Taj under the Full Moon. You also get to visit the Taj during the day, the Agra Fort, the tomb of Itimad ud Dalah (Baby Taj), and the Mehtab Bagh. They also include a dinner at a local tourist restaurant with a decent buffet of Indian dishes. Franly the full moon was disappointing. The Taj is lit only by the moonlight, and the night I visited was terrible air pollution. But the rest of the tour is great--Shakeel was a terrific guide. We visited the places at my pace--so the Taj in the morning, then he picked me up in the afternoon to visit the other places. It's really a full day's tour and then some! Getting from place to place, we had a nicely air conditioned car. I would definitely recommend the tour to anybody visiting Agra, and especially recommend the guide services of Yogesh and Shakeel. They made my whole trip especially memorable.

The tour guide was very patient with his explanations and took great pictures of us. At the end of the tour, he even took us to a less-prominent area within Taj Mahal where he demonstrated the acoustics of the domes etc. Further, he took us to witness the traditional marble-inlay industry too. Spent a wonderful day exploring Taj Mahal's different dimensions!

Food was good but too expensive. You can find cheaper restaurants in Agra that also serve good food. Service was not that friendly either, waiter was asking all the time if we want to order more food and took the dishes from table so fast even when my partner was not finished.

7. Old Delhi Food Walk

Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk, New Delhi, Delhi 110006, India fun2travel

Crowded lanes, roaring traffic, rickshaws all around, aromatic smell, misty charcoal smoke, and traditional delicacies in every nook and corner – that’s just a glimpse of the food arena of Old Delhi. A heaven for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians, it is the perfect place for food –junkies who love to explore, experiment, and experience the liveliness of yummy Indian street food. It would be tough for you to not pull your DSLRs’ and I phones. While you think of biting the steaming Samosa, the lavishness of crispy Jalebis would lure you. An irresistible temptation to try everything including but not limited to sweet, sour, and spicy Aaloo chaat dipped in a melange of chutneys, a fleet of stuffed parathas, and several authentic delicacies that are a trademark of Old Delhi Street food. Real Old Delhi street food is best enjoyed in its natural environ, in the noisy compact by-lanes of Chandni Chowk and Chawri Bazaar where golden Gurudwaras share space with ancient mosques.
