Carnival of Aalst

The lead-up to Ash Wednesday is an internationally celebratory time, especially at Belgium’s Carnival of Aalst. Over the course of 3 days, the streets and businesses of Aalst become home to dancers, musicians, actors, festive parades, and an amazing collection of costumes. The most infamous event of the weekend is when various performance groups provide satirical takes on world events from the past year. Attendees are encouraged to join in the fun by dressing up, face painting, and donning wacky accessories!

Don't be scared to what other hateful people are trying to shout out here. Aalst carnaval is still the best in the world, we aren't racists, antisemitic, that's what they want us to be and thanks to our national and worldwide press it gone out of hand. These haters don't understand nothing at all about our carnaval. They are just judging it by 2 or 3 photo's they saw. It's clearly that the most of them giving bad comments have never been to Aalst to watch our beautiful parade, they just follow the hurdle and really don't know better. For them it's an endless discussion because, like I've said, they never saw it with there own eyes and don't know any better, just what they've red in the news. We envite you with open arms, have a drink together, give you the best time you could ever imagine. It's one big brother and sisterhood these three days. So people just come over and watch our beautiful colourful parade that impresses young and old, you wouldn't regret it.
