Mangkunegaran Palace

Built in 1757 by the nephew of the King Pakubuwono II after a bitter power struggle, this smaller palace is still lived in.

I found the Mangkunegaran Palace one of the best presented and maintained examples of a Javanese Keaton I have ever seen. The buildings were well maintained and the tour was dignified and informative with some interesting artifacts some of which I have never seen before. There was a modest entrance price and we are required to observe some respectful protocols in certain places. We could purchase some Jamu as well as some quite unique batik in 2 places. Well worth visiting with the guide who also was happy to take many pictures for us. A great taste a culture in Solo.

Keraton Kasepuhan

Reviewed By DanielDelorean - Jakarta, Indonesia

After days of doing adventure tours in West Java with Java Private Tour, I finally arrived in Cirebon City to explore the arts, culture and history of the Kasepuhan palace in Cirebon, a historical place which in my opinion is very interesting, I am quite happy to be able to witness directly the ornaments of buildings and historical items that have a blend of Chinese, Indian and Indonesian. However, it is unfortunate because the tour guide service from the management at the Kasepuhan Cirebon palace has limitations in English communication, fortunately when I visited this place I was accompanied by a crew from Java Private Tour so that the crew from Java Private Tour could translate Indonesian and Cirebon regional accent into English, which finally made me understand the storyline about history, art and culture that was conveyed, and I very enjoy this tour.
