Booked for two nights with cabin with shared facilities. Cabin was close to amenities and comfortable. Heat pump kept us warm and bedding was exceptionally good quality. All amenities were modern and clean. Value for money. The camping ground was reasonably full. Has to be one of the best camp sites in the country.

Wellington TOP 10 Holiday Park

THE CITY PARK WITHOUT THE CITY FEEL... Just 15km from central Wellington, we are close enough to be near the action but far away enough to offer a peaceful retreat and spacious grounds for families, couples, business guests and all sized groups. There is plenty of parking, public transport is just minutes away and we can arrange shuttles to suit all requirements. Wellington Top 10 Holiday Park is a family owned and operated business with loads of industry experience. We value the Kiwi 'down to earth' attitude and alongside our sense of fun, you'll see this reflected in the way we operate our park.

Avoid!

This park is not set in native bush as mentioned, its plonked near an industrial estate and they've planted some trees. The sound of the nearby main roads, airport and trains are your soundscape. My partner and I came here for a little treat (hot shower, spa etc) after a few days of DOC sites (stunning sites but little facilities) we were not told the spa wasn't working before they took our money. We then went to play a game of pool and the machine ate our money. We were told the machines are not ours we can't do anything about it, i was also told that's just how life is, what do you want from us for 50 bucks?! Honestly the staff were so unhelpful and rude. To top it off three drunk fully grown men were drinking and blasting music on the CHILDRENS PLAYGROUND until well past 11pm and nobody said or did anything about it. AVOID

Waimeha Camping Village

beautiful location, great host

Waimeha campground is in an amazing location- only a couple of hours from the city, but it feels very remote and peaceful. The rugged coastline is a perfect match for the warm hospitality of John, the campground owner, who kindly helped us coordinate transport after walking the Aorangi crossing. Just a beautiful spot- check it out!

Greytown Campground

Picturesque campground set amidst mature native bush. Situated down a quiet side street, but only 500 metres away from the centre of Greytown village, cafe, and shops. 30 Powered sites and 55 unpowered sites. Two amenity blocks with full facilities and one of these also has wheelchair access. A children's playground and non-heated swimming pool (only open in summer) are immediately adjacent to the campground, as well as the local tennis courts, which are available to hire.

The last stay

Camped here very regularly over the last few years. It’s a blissful site, tucked amongst trees on the fringe of a mellow town. The campsite is meticulously managed. There’s something old fashioned about it, which is absolutely not a veiled suggestion that the place is beyond sell by date. It’s amenities are on the mark and spruce and cared for. A wonderful site for children and in a beautiful neighbourhood. Ken and Nina manage this place with warmth, kindness and commitment. Hospitality at its very best. Sadly, no more staying here. Moving permanently, just down the road - lock, stock and dogs. That’s how seductive this camp ground and its hosts are.
