Gare Loch

Reviewed By macedonboy - Glasgow, United Kingdom

This loch runs along the length of Helensburgh to Garelochhead, but perhaps it’s best known for the presence of the naval base Faslane. The loch is a beautiful sight driving north (or south) along the coastal road. Worth paying attention on a sunny day, it’s beautiful.

Relaxing and perfect to quietly walk seeing nature at its best! We walked along the waters edge at low tide and then up into the hills through the trees. Stunning scenery and magical views .

At nine miles long with a well maintained path, this place is excellent for walkers or cyclists wanting a relatively easy trip with lots to see. Beautiful scenery of a harbour, islands, mountains, and meadows with a meandering river in a historic landscape taking you from sea to sea and back..
